Alice and the Hatter: Quotes: Alice in Wonderland
Alice: What a funny watch! It tells the day of the month, and it doesn't tell what o'clock it is!
The Hatter: Why should it? Does your watch tell you what year it is?
Alice: Of course not, but that's because it stays the same year for such a long time together.
The Hatter: …which is just the case with mine.

Having problems with artifact binding...
Aliases[36]=(Command="SelectRod | OnRelease ActivateItem",Alias="ActivateRod")
Aliases[37]=(Command="SelectTriple | OnRelease ActivateItem",Alias="ActivateTriple")
Aliases[38]=(Command="SelectHealingBlast | OnRelease ActivateItem",Alias="ActivateHealingBlast")
F=ActivateTriple
R=ActivateRod
Y=ActivateHealingBlast
The assigned keys will select the artifact but the artifact will not activate. Anyone see any issues?

You only need "alias" if you want the Artifact to do something.
This alias will select rod then turn it on.
Aliases[37]=(Command="SelectRod | OnRelease ActivateItem",Alias="Rod")
Delete=Rod
Yours looks the same.
Now I use AcitvateItem on mouse 4 and shortcuts to select artifacts.
This is the easiest way to set artifacts to keys.
This will not activate them, just sets them ready to use.
I have 'activateitem' set to mouse4
See link to see highlighted example of my "user.ini" file

Looks ok to me. Only thing I can question is the vertical line character. Just in case it is the wrong character try cutting and pasting it from another line like the duck or jump.

Got it working, thanks! Dom's reply worked. I got rid or the alias and only assigned keys. I did try changing the piping char, made no difference though.
I finally built my new computer and messed up the UT install. I originally backed up the UT2004 folder onto another computer, wiped my drive and moved the back-up UT2004 folder to the new computer. When I installed UT again it installed into the backup folder and I lost my ini file. I think I finally have all my settings back to the way they were. Thanks for all the input!

hey guys its been awhile since i've posted enough of that.
I like the idea of being able to use Text executions to actually "increase" the amount of useable keybind space.

E=exec binds\bind_eng.txt
M=exec binds\bind_md.txt
W=exec binds\bind_wm.txt
I have one question.
Would we be able to put binds onto a macro keyboard? And most inportantly have them funtion correctly.
I have a Logitect G15. Not cheap, but its a great Gaming Keyboard.
P.S. I have been on the server for the past few days. I had to start new chars due to me changing my CD key.
So I am no longer Swimy. =(
My medic is Jinkoo
and my Wep Master is Jinkoe
Hope to talk to some of you guys soon.
One trick I have done in the past (and am doing right now as I type) is to produce lines like this in my User.ini
Code:
UnknownB6=SAY UnknownB6
UnknownB7=SAY UnknownB7
That way, when I push I key, I can tell what key UT thinks it is.
BTW... I use the G15 myself, and you could always record a macro and assign it to a given key, which entered a command via the command line...

ok I got a question I'm try'n to set the shield blast to a key and I copied the line from my healing blast (which works) but the shield is not!
now my healing is set to a mouse button and I did not have to do the aliases thing but for the shield I'm setting it up on a key do I need the aliases set up?

Directly assigning to a key will just allow you to select the artifact.
If you want to select-and-activate in one go, you need to use an alias

or use the text pad, something like this
b=exec blast.txt
the u make a .txt (note pad)
containing something like this
SelectShieldBlast | SelectHealingBlast| ActivateItem
save it.
then when u press "b"
it will try to select shield blast, if you are an engi it will do, but since u arent medic it cant select heal blast, therefore leaving you with shieldblast and activating it
if you are medic i cant select shield blast since you dont have it, but it will select healblast, and activate it
