I came across a band after seeing their music video and being in awe of how weird it was. The band's called MGMT and I bought their album the next day. The band sounds like a mix between The Knife, Under The Influence of Giants, and then it gets foggy from there lol. I love this album, maybe cause I like odd bands, but it's worth a listen!

Just a quick plug, Flogging Molly's new album "Float" is on MySpace's premiere right now so you can listen to the whole album for free. So far, an excellent album!! (as usual)

New band making it's way onto Utah radio stations... Black Tide. Metal fans rejoice! This is a classic prog/power metal group that flat out rocks! Excellent guitar work and the drums are very solid. Good sauce all around! Give 'em a listen!

Heeeeres another one! Picked up this CD when they opened for Flogging Molly, hadn't listened to it! ...dunno why, tis full of awesome! The band is:

Murder By Death

..and they rock! I remember they were fairly good live so I snagged the album. Anyway, they're an interesting mix of Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, and The Reverend Horton Heat. Kindof a dark rockabilly sorta sound, with an angry eclectic splash every now and then... I can see this being on a Tarantino flick, if that means anything to you peeps.

Nice! I can't say they have a Cure vibe hehe, but they're very good. Do you have any idea when the album will be released? I also thought some of the Your Vegas songs were pretty cool as well.

The album has been sent to the pressing house and a limited "short album" is being done first. So, full album should be available early june.

BTW, I also enjoyed "Your Vegas", I'm gonna look them up in town.

Yeah I hear the cure in there...mostly at the beginnings of the songs, and vocally he's a little smithy...Kinda CureKillers with a splash of Keane...good stuff tho!

Any idea if/when they're gonna tour?

Starsailor is a another obscure band that isn't very mainstream I think. But very good music nonetheless.

Heh, was blasting the Pandora today and hit a band I had long forgotten about...

The Advantage

Geek rock in it's purest form. These guys to rock covers of classic video game theme songs (mostly NES tunes). Anyway, give em a listen! I guarantee a nostalgia grin, even if you don't like em!

Heh, that did bring back some memories... ahh Mega Man 2 for the NES. Besides the great theme song, what a wonderful game haha.

Not an obscure or little known band... (so this is kind of OT) but I get to see Rush tonight - I've always had to miss their concerts for one reason or another, so this will be a treat for me. pumped.
