When I get a chance I want to try something:
I kind of remember that different turrets are affected by poison or red gnats differently.

It isn't common for the player in the turret to come back after a server crash...or come to the forums...maybe we can focus on getting these players to report what happened from their point of view.

Also I don't know how Druid has his server set up, but if he would mirror all of the logs to the website somewhere, this could be much easier to solve (and future bugs too.) I don't think there are any privacy or security issues involved.

forgot to post this earlier but...

had an AM die in a Ball turret and he dropped all his artifacts
had Elite_Medic die in a mini turret and his ultima killed bout 3 of us
next time I'll try to remember to note the times

Well after playing my engineer more I've noticed turret death crashing server issue seems to be related only to the minigun turret.
haven't seen it to often lately as most engineers are too low level to spawn them or higher level and spawn other kinds of turrets
my guess is that the mini gun turret changes the "class" of the "pawn" somehow I'm not a coder but after reading a little (very little) it seems like that might be the issue, but I very well could be wrong

Thanks for the feedback.

I have made a change on my test server so the minigun turret should always eject when it blows. As of yet it hasn't crashed, but then I couldn't get it to crash before either.
I'll submit it for the next build when I get chance.

But if the crash is due to the player dying inside a healthy turret (since the player in the minigun turret can take damage), then it will not fix it.

But we need the test to see.

Is this true? I have been using a mini turret more often lately, but I don't take damage...Is it something like the shield where the turret health has to be below a certain amount before the player takes damage?

The server crashed a couple of days ago...I smelled this bug, but couldn't confirm it because majority of the players didn't come back.

they take damage if you get shot from the side where it impacts the player rather than the turret itself. beyond that def sents also make that harder

I am submitting a change to always eject from the minigun turret - just like the ball and energy turrets to hopefully reduce the number of crashes.
I am also reducing the amount of damage the player gets in the minigun turret as well - just in case that is causing the problem. This is damage to the player health, not damage to the turret.

This may be a moot point now with the change you are submitting Szlat, but the server just crashed and it was one of my mini turrets exploding that did it.

Time: 9:13 pm central time
Date: 11/5
Map: Waisten
Location: next to flak cannon
Wave: 6 (about half way through)
Dill_Pickle (low level, not an engineer) was in one of my 2 mini turrets, I was in the one next to him. No one was healing either of the turrets. I had a def sent up in front, but a titan came around from behind and I turned just in time to see the titan throw the rock at Dill in the turret. The turret exploded and the server froze.

Just a quick comment. The bug is definitely not linked to non-engineer players in turrets. Yesterday, Buster's new engineer character was in a minigun turret and it exploded, crashing the server. He had not bought ejection yet, so that may be the key.

As a side note, he bought ejection during the next map.

Crashed again: Thursday Dec 4, 2008 at 2:08AM Central time (-500 UTC i think)
A level 14 player was in one of my mini turrets and was killed on wave 15
There were only 4 players and no one was linking him.
When it blew I think I saw his body fly out of the turret.

The not having vehicle eject seems to be the best guess, but could it be ghost?

The mini turret that caused the server crash was in a location that I could not put a ball turret. I think it might be good to point out any future crashes if the turret had a roof over it just in case its related.

Tonight we had a crash, caused by a new player in a mini-turret.
We convinced him to buy vehicle eject, and the next time the turret exploded with him, he was ejected, and the server did not crash.
I was curious if the server would crash the second time a turret exploded (before his eject reset), but road and I died before he did?

A while back Trooper mentioned that the server crashed when a non-mini turret (don't remember if it was E or Ball) was destroyed.
