Is there any specific reason that we have not made a 'toss your Shield Gun' mutator, or do we just have no problem with it? I think it would be nice to be able to toss your Shield Gun of Knockback +6 if you think your hands are not safe enough for it. I do that sometimes; "Anyone want an Infinite Mini? I'll probably die before I can use it effectively.". That sort of thing. I just find not being able to toss the Shield Gun a bit... dumb... You can toss any other weapon, so why not that one?
I'd very happily make a mutator for it (shouldn't take more than an hour, and that's stretching it). I just want to be sure we approve.

The only possible reason I could really see it being impossible to drop a shield gun is because it's the only weapon who's attack cannot run out of ammunition, even if using it as a shield does drain energy. I suppose because it's used as a last ditch weapon if you ever run out of ammunition on the regular game.
I'm not saying it'd be impossible to code in a way to toss the shield gun, I've wanted to in the past when I'd get a Shield Rage 10 or Vorpal 10, since other people would benefit from it more (Medics tend to not use Shield guns).
Those are my two cents.

I'd be overjoyed at the ability to drop and pick up shield guns. On my LA charactor I often get surprisingly good shield guns but can't use them because I die to easily; with my medic though I just love running around with a shield gun killing things.
I'm all for something like this.

Never really thought much of dropping it, I guess in some situations it would be nice. I think bCanThrow was left false by epic since its a weapon of last resort type of thing and no levels have the pickup for shieldguns.

In the default gametypes that epic included with the game there would be no reason to be able to drop the shieldgun... everyone starts with one, ammo doesnt run out, and you can only use one at a time. RPG is the only game type Ive come across where dropping the shieldgun would have benifit, so I'd say epic actually thought it through for what gametypes that dropping it would be disabled.. They also have to take into consideration the accidental dropping of shieldgun by inexperienced players (or dropping wrong weapon) if you are running around out of ammo or with no weapon the game isnt much fun. Also if you can drop every weapon then they have to go through the process of drawing fists ect which for the number of different characters that shipped with the game simply would not happen, even making a set of hands for each species would take quite a bit of work (you may as well make each species have a different weapon set also).
Anyways like you said mutators are there if you need something tweaked or changed.

Hmm, true that. But I defend myself by saying that inexperienced players simply learn. And after the first couple accidental tosses of the Shield Gun, I'm sure they'd figure it out. But whatever. Should I post the mutator here or e-mail it to someone?

The SG is the Noobs last ditch weapon (unless you count the trans as a weapon). Don't think it should be droppable ... also, the lack of a spawn point for them ...
Can't think of a reason *why* you'd want to ditch it all that much. As a WM, I throw my GL, BR, and RL mainly because they reside in slots with other weapons that I prefer, not so much because it reduces the weapons in scrolling.
Now I can think of reasons why you'd want to *share* it, or have an AM max it, but then we get back to the "no spawn point" issue, and I don't find it all that annoying to keep.

On second thought, if it is droppable then it would be OK with me. I need it as a medic just to keep me alive until I find weapons, so it is needed upon spawn.
