This one, I might debate - it's relative. I'm 25 days from 36; and we have active players who are still in high school. On the other hand, we apparently have players over 50 ...

Shield guns aren't droppable, and I dont think they have a pickup class.

I suppose I could fix this, but I keep asking myself... why?

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

Because it makes us non-shield gun users feel better about ourselves? I often find myself spawning with Vamp, Vorpal, or Rage shield guns, and sometimes even ask anyone if they want it before I realize that 'You idiot, the shield gun can't be dropped!'

It'd just be a minor convenience that would make those shield gun users get even more... kills..... So, how about that non-droppable shield gun?

I cannot speak for Vortex but since he's stepped back from running the server and it's mine...my vote is no. I haven't heard any requests for dropping the shield but then again maybe most haven't thought of it!

Of course your most welcome to post on our forum and ask if any might think it useful. I'm all for the player, if the majority thinks it would be a good thing AND they'd use it, I can't think of any good reason not to put it on even though I didn't necessarily like it, I'd add it on.

I can't say I've ever really cared about tossing the shield. Sure its possible that with 'Magical Starting Weapons' enabled you could end up with a bad shield gun, but that's kind of a low priority reason to ditch it. And I've never understood why go through the trouble of making a good magic weapon out of a shield gun when you could have made the other guns magic.

So I don't care either way whether or not it becomes tossable or not. If someone codes up the appropriate skill/mutator I still won't be tossing shield guns.

That settles it, then. I'll probably make a mutator for it, wouhou!

Off topic, I watched the first three seasons of Red Vs Blue, and even downloaded their UT2004 skins. They are actually done quite well, and I urge you all to download the Master Chief Halo 2 skin pack (google with some of those terms) so that you can see me as Church .

On our server shield guns do a PILE more damage than they do regularly.

On the other hand, I'm not sure that I want them droppable for that very reason.

Why do they do more damage? Aren't they already that 'overpowered melee weapon'?

Cos they were totally worthless until I increased the damage.

Which part? The part where I said I cant see why I should care, or the part where I said I'm not sure I want them droppable?

I wrote that question thinking it was for real, but in hindsight it may be more rhetorical..

Where you said you didn't want it on the server O.o. Well, more of an ambition killer than a thread killer, but whatever. No mutator then .

Amping up the damage is probably fair enough considering the shield gun was designed with a 100 health player in mind and monsters tend to have much more than 100 health usually. I mean you still have to get in the monsters face to use it properly.

I would agree with you. If you are amping them up a bunch, you won't want people making vorpal +10's and handing them out to everyone.

You have to agree though that a Vorpal Shield is purdy cool when it 'pops' after you run into a monster!!!

actually a propulsion shield gun is pretty funny to use, you run into a monster and it's throw to the wall...too bad they can't splat!

Alot of fun can be had with the shield gun, too bad you didn't have a mutator that only allowed certain weapons on certain waves...now that could be amuzing. Have a metal skaarj wave with nothing but a shield gun...RUN FOREST RUN!!! or a titan wave with a goop gun!

Hmm, your 'if only they went splat' gets me thinking: if gravity damages you, why doesn't excessive velocity in other directions damage you? Hmm...
