I hope both of you are right

I just hope UnrealScript 3 will be very similar (or simpler, woohoo!) to UnrealScript 2, else things become much more difficult than they already are.

I'll have both on my machine and bounce back and forth, can't let my friends go off and play without me! Unreal's new versions are better than the previous (like neo?)... too bad I can't say the same about Quake. I really enjoy the DC server and hopefully '07 will stick with tradition. I wouldn't be too worried about the release date, a patch is sure to quickly follow and may help coding issues. I'm game for whatever you decide. We'll have to wait and see the reaction to '07. If I can play F.E.A.R. I won't have a problem with ut2k7, I'm a huge fan of graphics.

Relating to graphics, I'm just looking for ward to them amazing me. I mean, when the this-generation game consoles came out (primarily the GameCube), I was like OH MY GOD THEY HAVE FINGERS! Now I look at them and frown at the unconvincing polygon angle in attempt to make an object round. So if UT2007 can spark me up again, I love it.

I'll be playing UT2004 for the forseeable future because UT2007 will most likely not run very well on my system. I have great video cards, but am only running a 933mhz G4. A Radeon 9800 Pro doesn't get fully utilized with my processor/bus speeds.

I feel the same as Piper. I would like to and look forward to playing both but it will probably run into problems. I love playing invasion and I can't see not playing.

my machine barely runs ut2k4 to be hontest. I'm running all the lowest settings with everything that can be turned off in that state.

And still in the evenings when the servers crowded I generally can't even play was 15 and 16 because if I don't get the no weapons deal going then I at least am too the point where I can't see any of the ammo flying through the air whether it be my own , another players or enemies. So basicallt for those 2 waves I'm running around like a lemming

For a fair while after UT2007 comes out, we'll be running UT2004.

If UT2004/Invasion continues to receive contributor support to justify it's continued lifespan on our server, we wont take it away.

If we can figure out how to port the RPG and Invasion code to UT2007, we'll reexamine the whole thing at that point.

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

Has anyone been reading the main UT forums and articles posted out there and seen what the projected HW requirements were going to be???? I saw one where one of the high level folks who was working on the UT2K7 project said at some conference or trade show that a system with PCI-X and a top end 6800GT might only be acceptable. Read that last part again... might only be acceptable The UE3 engine which is being used in 2K7 is impressive, but it requires a real beast of a machine to run it. That is one of the reasons why 2K7 has taken so long...the hardware had to catch up to it, and even now, rumor has it that they still have to lower the details.

As for me, regardless of the fact that I am more of a TDM, CTF, TLMS fan and I only play INV on DC for the company...my current AMD Barton 2500 machine with 1.5GB of RAM and a 9500Pro will not hack UT2K2, and Uncle Sam sure made it certain that I will not be getting a new machine until I get a pay raise. And I do not see that happening until the pre-IPO company I work for gives pay raises (something almost unheard of), or I get a different job, or have some sort of windfall which gets me out from under the load I am carrying right now. Even a reserved slot on DC or a subscription to play Eve is not looking promising right now.

Watch that and remind yourself it is all in real-time. That should give you a basis to estimate what you will need to run UT2007.

Dumb question? I watched the video and everything played great, should I assume my machine will handle UT2007?

The video was "of a realtime scene," sooo it just means the computer they had could run it. Although I think that if your computer runs 2k4 then it should be able to handle 2k7 if you cut down on some of the display options. But only the developers really know at this point in time for sure.

Well E3 is here and UT2007 has been seen in more depth. To answer E's question about the machine you'll need, the guy in the interview talks about how it will be able to run on most machines due to its highly customizeable options(towards the end). It's a long interview talking about all the modes and gives some gameplay footage, but it looks like it will be much easier to access than thought before which is great, and it looks fantastic! I'm not sure how long it'll be up for since there's lots at E3, but for now it's listed around the middle of the page at "E3 stage demos" on May 10th

I guess I'll look at it from the angle of by the time DC'07 becomes a reality, I'll be able to afford the hardware necessary to run it! Honestly, as it's been stated and re-stated, it's the community that makes DC, not the game. I can still pick up UT'07 and play as I'll wanna play with all the cool new toys but yeah, I'll hang out for whatever. I must say tho, a DC-CTF/RPG crossover sounds like a total blast. Team healing, experience percentage based on the level of the person you drop... mumble mumble..... Alas, the weight of my voice is pretty limited, as I'm not a contributor or anything. Aaanyway...

*clink-klink* 2 cents sir, yes, that is all.

cheers.
