So I just got back from seeing Saw 6..... if you're into the Saw movies at all...WOW! It was great right from the start! Goes into a TON of detail that runs through a couple of the older movies... Go see it! This movie gets a biased 10/10 from me cuz I love em.... haha

I'm getting dragged to this one, I'm hopeful... Loved Saw I, but not a fan of the second...hoping it's like the first, but I'm gonna assume it's not heh

I totally agree. It was so lame. I'm glad I didn't pay anything to see it... (my friends work at the theater near me )

If they had added some scary music I think it would have been a different story. But that probably would have destroyed the whole blair-witch-o-vision thing they had going on.

I thought the guy in the movie was annoying and it almost seemed like a video they could show in marriage/couples counseling classes.

LOL, should have read these posts before 1 pm today! Really, if asked for a description of the movie all there is to say is "Blair Witch, inside, no snot."
Now, thats not to say that there were not a few spots in the flick that my hair didn't stand up on my neck, the being dragged out of bed by the foot scene comes to mind, but all in all we should have waited until it came to HBO.

Well, I feel like such a loser. I thought Paranormal Activity was creepy, creepier than Blair Witch anyway. (My wild imagination at night probably doesn't help.) But for a couple nights after seeing it, I refused to allow any part of my body to hang off the bed...not that that would have helped if there is a [paranormal activity] (can't give anything away!) in my house, but still....

So there you have it. Boingo's a pansy! Yay!

Now hold on, I didn't say it wasn't creepy. The premise of the film is quite good really, well most of it anyway. (the attempt to link back in history with the picture was a bit off, almost like they said "wait, we need some depth here. ....I've got it, <gives coffee boy a picture> burn this a little then lets shoot it!)
I've had some of my own activities in the past, so film doesn't creep me too much (well, for some reason, Regan coming down the stairs upside down and backwards makes me want to pee my self.) but, I can appreciate some of the scenes here. The standing next to the bed for hours (has happened to me in the past twice, once with my wife and once by my brother), sleep walking in general. the pulled off the bed thing, foot prints in the powder (did they really have to use raptor toes?). All good stuff, but the film taken in its entirety was just not pulled off well.
Though the comic relief when the "doctor" came back the second time and was like "um, can't stay here, good luck with that, gotta go." was well done.

Ditto. That was the part I saw that made me decide I couldn't watch that movie alone.

I think the movie hits home for me is because of my imagination. I've imagined shadows on the wall and or heard footsteps walking around.

And for the love of everything, when you go downstairs to investigate something creepy, turn on the flipping lights!! Grrr!

Spot on! I mean come on, lights make stuff go away! My wife just said the same thing and She can't go into a dark cellar with out thinking she is going to see Mike from Blair Witch standing in the corner (best scene in the movie btw imho) and something coming up behind and grabbing her. LOL

So two movies...

Disney's Up: Loved this movie, great story and animation was awesome. It's extremely inventive and fun, definitely recommend this movie to everyone!

Ninja Assasin: Just saw this movie and it's not good haha. First off the plot wasn't really what I expected, a mix of random detectives and ninjas, rather than solely a ninja movie. Second, the movie's very very bloody, so over the top that my friends and i laughed through most of it (definitely not for the younger ones). The action's cool at points, but the plot is so laughable it kills the movie.

I agree, it was one of the cutest Disney movies I've seen in awhile!

I'll agree, UP was pretty good. The beginning is a little down for a Pixar movie, but that goes along with the plot.

I'm surprised that there isn't a review of Avatar up in here yet.

Having just seen it today, I guess I'll do it.

The wife and I (yes I had to draaaag her to it) saw it at the largest Imax screen in Minnesota. I figure if I'm gonaa see it, might as well do it right.

Didn't know much about the the movie's plot or for that matter who was even starring in it. I just had heard how cool the visuals were, and I like sci-fi.

I would have to say that it is hands-down the most visually stunning movie I have ever seen and IMO, probably ever made. There is something to make your jaw drop and have you staring in awe in about 75% of the scenes. The 3-D technology and visual effects are so far ahead of anything that has made up until now that it is mind-blowing. Admittedly, I was VERY skeptical of how a movie that relies so heavily on CGI effects would look on a big screen and in 3-D that I was bracing for the "oh man, that cartoony effect just ruined the moment" moment. It never happened. At times I was actually looking to find the visual flaws, but there simply aren't any. Even the closeup shots of the blue faces of the aliens are incredibly life-like.

The plot or story is old, tired, thin, and predictable. Humans=mostly bad, greedy, destructive. Emphasis on green, mother nature-esque message. Some great action sequences interspersed throughout. A couple fantastic action sequences.

Acting was slightly above average. Not great, not bad. But acting isn't necessarily why someone would go see a movie like this.

To sum up, I'd say that even if you don't like sci-fi or have perhaps a passing interest, go see Avatar. See it in Imax if at all possible. (True Imax...not the "hey our screen is slightly bigger" Imax-in-name-only theaters). DEFINITELEY see it in 3-D. I just don't think the visuals would have near the impact in 2-D. It's a must see for any sci-fi/fantasy buff.

The story gets a D+
The acting gets a B-
The visuals get an A++

The extra plus makes the overall grade of the movie an A-

Groundbreaking visuals more than make up for the films shortcomings and turn Avatar into a movie that should not be missed while it is in the theater. At home, the grade of the movie probably drops to a C.
