Erm, Vortex, not to disrespect, but I did the math on the code too, and a +4 Poison drains 10% of their health.
1.3^(Modifier-1)*0.05
1.3^3 = 2.197
2.197 * 0.05 = 0.10985 = 10.985% ~= 10%

Do you have a different formula?

Yes I said 10%. But you have to realize that it takes 10% of their current health at each tick. Not 10% of their starting health before the poison acted.

On the first tick, 100% health - 10% damage = 90% health.
Then the next time it ticks, they only have 90% of their original health, so 10% of that 90% health is now 9%.

And about that decimal point after the 10%, I rounded off because thats what RPG does. It always drops any digits after a decimal point. I've tested with the percentage based experience gains.

Um, I know everything that you just said. You earlier stated that
A Poison +4 will drain a monster of approximately 40%of it's life

And I thought that you were saying that such happened at each tick, when it is actually 10, so I questioned your formula. I simply did not know you were referring to the big picture is all, no worries.

It is still effective but the best poison damage you will do is hitting a monster while it is at full health and then just blasting him over and over after 4 seconds.

I think this answers my next question. So after 4 ticks, the monster can be re-poisoned, correct?

Also, does the triple affect the poison? Or just base flak dmg? I suspect the latter...

Hmm...

Poison damage is independent of any outside variables except the modifier of the Poison weapon. Hitting a monster at any time with a poison projectile will give it four seconds of poisoning, whether or not it is already poisoned. Do note that it does not add 4 seconds, just sets it to such.

Wait so Vortex is saying hit it again *after* 4 seconds and Kohan is saying each hit will reset the timer to 4 seconds. I'm confused again.

Yeah I double checked the code. It does indeed set the lifespan of the poison at the original time limit.

So if you poison a monster and 3 ticks go by, (where it has 1 tick yet to go) and you hit it again it would then have 4 ticks of poison to go.

So basically, every additional hit resets the coutdown to the original value it started at.

I should clarify something. The best use for Poison is when you can't cause a lot of damage to a monster through normal damage. So poison will sap the life of the monster regardless of how little physical damage you could normally cause it. So it would be great against titans when you are a low level player.

Does tick 1 happen at the moment of poisoning (i.e. base flak dmg + tick 1 of poison)? Or 1 sec later?

Sounds nitpicky, but the lifespan of a queen when the server is full is a couple seconds at best...

I think its a second after the initial hit.
It's hard to tell for sure.
