Here's an interesting bug for you Dru. After I lay down some mines, if I switch to a magic weapon, my mines will take on that wepons magic characteristics. Unfortunately, this has hurt more than it's helped. Last night, ater laying some mines, I switched to a vorpal shock rifle and ran into one of my mines before it hit the ground. It vorped me (no mistaking that sound). I've had them take on other magic capabilities, such as entropy and freezing, as well. dcs redeemered himself with one. Cool, eh?

i tried the redeemer thing earlier in a controlled environment.
no luck

Was the redeemer magic? It seemed to me that it's only the magic effect that carries over from the other weapon, but I can't be sure. I know the weapon has to be magic in any event.

i have loaded weapons 5, so all my weapons except shield gun and assault rifle are positive magic.

I've told Dru about this before once a long bit ago Steel. We were on boom boom and the last two left. I had laid out the regular protection mines and was sniping with a vorpal. Several queens came up and before i even shot them died by vorpal. This happened several times. Dru, was there. Later i told him i didn't fire a shot.

We put two and two together. You can lay mines magic mine layer or not doesn't matter. Any gun you switch to after that. Its effects will pass to the mines. Even if its just a plus 2 mini. The damage bonus will pass over to the mines. So if you have vorpal , freezing, or knockback its smart to be careful.

Yep, that vorpal mines you have to watch out for. Even when you have like a +6 vorpal, it seems the mines only insta-gib when you are close to them.

Thanks. At least now I know it wasn't just another hallucination. Now if you'll excuse me, I must go quiet down the silverware. The knives, in particular, have been making way too many suggestions..........(most involving cplmac).

Mysterial knows about this one, and we talked about it for a while.

The magic weapon you currently have selected is the one that applies to whatever weapon damage you have in play. Even to the point if you launch a rocket, and switch to your vorpal before it hits, it takes on the vorpal.

The problem is that if each time damage was done, UT2004RPG had to iterate through all the different weapons in your inventory (and keep in mind, it might be like 20) to figure out which one fired which ammo, it would be a huge drain on the server. Just think about how much damage is flying around out there.

I'm not too concerned about this because it's difficult, if not impossible to exploit in any meaningful way. Sure if you're crafty you could get some vorpal rockets, or vorpal mines, but by the time you've switched back and forth you really haven't improved your fire rate.

so if i have mini+5, and climb into a goliath, all my tank shots are now +5?

or climb into a turret gun, now it's +5 plasma shots?

Only if you were to climb in .. fire a shot.. then jump out and have the minigun selected before the shot hit anything.

so is there a way to make vehicles take on magical properties when you climb inside them? i really, really want a STURDY manta.

No. but try using the heavy vehicles mutator or the new vehicle invasion.. I think in the latest version of one of those you can actually specify a multiplier to apply to the mass of vehicles.
