Is it the PSP or the DS? Why?

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

I have to say, I like the DS we got our son. I think it is because we have been solid Nintendo people for so long, and I like the assortment of games available for the DS.

I'd agree with Em, I don't own a DS, but i did once own a PSP and was a bit disappointed. It's neat, graphics are pretty cool, but the games lack a lot of originality and most are just remakes.... and the dreaded dead pixels. I've always liked nintendo and even though I'm not a huge fan of touch screens i think their games are really fun.... who doesn't like a bit of portable mario kart hehe

Our family has 2 of each.

I believe that what will appeal to you depends upon what types of games you like to play and whether you will use any of the other features of each.

That said, there is a game card you can get from Asia that allows you to do most of the things on the DS that you can on the PSP so it comes down to the resolution of the screen, the games available for each handheld and the size of each unit.

I carry my PSP far more than my DS.

With my PS3 able to stream media wirelessly from my computer to my PSP it allows me to have about 300 gigs of content available when I am on the go.

Most of the games that are out for the DS seem to be aimed at children and young adults, some of this gaming appeals to me but some is just not very well programmed, others like the Nintendo titles are pure awesomeness. me and my kids play Rayman raving rabbids on the DS for hours!

Most of the games that are out for the PSP are ports from computer games and the PS2, quite a few of the ports loose functionality and/or have some pretty major changes by the time they hit the PSP.

So, while I do not love my PSP, there are very few places that I travel without it.

I've also heard some rumors about games on the PS3 having additional content on your psp. For example I heard about a driving game that would broadcast a signal to your psp that was the rear view mirror.

Anyone heard more about that or seen a game demo it?

I've never used the DS. I haven't used the PSP very much, but it seems pretty neat. Movies look good and the two games I've seen look ok. Browsing the internet is kinda hard to do, though. You can't do anything quickly over the internet, at least, I can't. Having to type everything in using the onscreen keyboard takes forever. I can't get mine to connect to my PS3, but it is probably because of my firewall. My PS3 doesn't have the wireless networking. Overall, I think it isn't too bad, though.

The functionality exists, but no game producers have put it into one of their games yet, at least no major games. It just does not make it to the final cut of the game. The excuse that studios are making is that for games to be cross platform they need to develop most of the feature sets similarly.

I have owned a PSP since the day it was released. I've also played the DS a fair amount.

I will echo others comments regarding what you want to use the system for. Nintendo has always gambled with "gimmicky" type ideas for their systems, and it usually pays off. The duel screen/touch screen is a great idea if utilized to it's full potential. The DS has some great games. Nintendo has always hit home runs with its platform games. I have been a fan since the original Nintendo system. The fun factor is definitely there.

The PSP is more for the older teen/adult demographic. With wi-fi, MP3, video, and many other capabilities, it caters more to the person looking for an all-in-one device.

The graphics and sound on the PSP are great. I didn't have the dead pixel issue with mine. I like both systems, but for different reasons.

For the kiddies, go with DS. For the older set, PSP. If you're a big kid, get both.
