I dont know about you, but in game when lets say dirty says something, i think of the bald headed guy with the thing on his head (his player model). I'm sure he doesn't look like that, so who has the guts to post a picture of themselves? Here is my son and i on holloween (coffin had sound, lights, was custom fit for Nic and was on a cart so i could push him around town all night. For an 11 year old, he's pretty darn heavy!!!!

heh - great costume!

Anyway, I work at the same place as XChosen so I also hail from Oklahoma City. I'm way too old to be playing these games - at least that's what most people say (and my wife would probably agree) 2 awesome kids (actually teens by now) and we play many online games together. I've been in the computer field longer than most of you have been alive so we won't go into that - both XChosen and I specialize in an obscure and arcane OS (which happens to be the best OS around but nobody has heard of it kind of thing) but it still pays the bills and it is popular in Healthcare and Financial markets.

I don't do outside stuff much although I do like snow-skiing and horseback riding (but my back won't let me ride any more - and it would look weird since we live in the city anyway). Recently we went rock climbing and that brought back a bunch of memories... including the ones of the muscles I had forgotten I had and that had not done any work in many years.

Music is probably something I would list as a hobby (I'm a frustrated drummer inside) and my taste is highly eclectic so it's almost easier to list what I don't llisten to (but I won't because there are always exceptions). I've made great use of Itunes lately. As for sports, well, soccer (as you call it in this contry - the rest of the world calls it football) being that I didn't grow up in the USA.

That's it for now - laters!

im into all computer things oldschool. i love the old ugly square cases, the keyboards that go *CLACKCLACKCLACK* really loud as you type and all that fun old stuff. the only new thing i use for my computer (besides the internal stuff ) is my mouse, as serial mice dont have 5 buttons hehe.

my fave two games are UT2k4 (druidsrpg invasion, ONS and XMP) and Quake II (i play a mod called gloom (www.planetgloom.com) if anyone's interested.)

comp stats: celron 1.1ghz, 384 MB pc133 SDram, 140 GB of space, WinXP Pro (fully tweaked out useing "winXP: from rebuild to relax" and "winXP: from relax to rightious") and Linux Fedora Core 2 dualboot (GRUB)
LG flatron flatrscreen 775 CRT monitor i found in perfect working order behind a dumpster

i ship/reccieve for a BIG canadian IT company (metafore / Microage) at there corprate headquarters. i work with the CEO's Kid. so, i think my job's pretty secure.

i have a son (boy, 9 months) and a fiancé that ALSO play's here too! ([BGE]chloe) but i'll let her descide if she wants to come here and tell you about herself.

um..you're a flamer? maybe that means something different in canada than around here....U might want to start using a synonym instead.

Superior tactics will prevail, and ownage shall ensue.

Name on the forum is Caleab. That's the name I use mostly around the net. My rl name is Casey and I'm 30ish I live in Northern California (base of the foothills - so don't expect me to be using slang that people associate with Southern Cal)

I work in the health insurance industry for a large insurance company. Currently I'm the Lead Quality Analyst for the company... blah blah.. it's a job and a paycheck.

When I'm not trying to frag invaders, I'm either watching sports, playing with my rottie or maintaining my music collection.

I don't do the forum thing alot, so don't expect too much from me and I might not let you down.

OK...before I post about me, I will bite...what OS is that? Multics? CPL? RSTS/E? MVS? Or one of the other dozen or more operating systems I have used over the past 30 years of programming?? See mine for more of a reason why I ask.

Ok.. here goes.

I'm a 27 year old Mechanical Engineering student on my last semester! I goto school full time during the week and enjoy every weekend back at Imation where I've worked for almost 6 years as an electrician/mechanic/programmer/engineer/supervisor etc... I do it all.

Currently the only release I have from the real world is this game since nothing else seems to hold my interest more than 6 mo. I started playing online in August when school fired up and I'm loving it.

Greetings All,

A little about myself? If you have known me for some time, you will know this will be a bit hard.

In the game, I play as *BEL*_e, and am the clan general (leader, web master, etc.) for BEL Clan. My name makes it a bit hard on folks who don't know me, and so I answer to things like "BEL", and "hey you!" But my handle is actually spacey, and "e" is much quicker/easier to type. Way back when, I used "stargazer", which is a login name I had back in 1981, if not earlier, and describes my love for astronomy. I started playing UT (the old 436 version) with a bunch of co-workers (including Ripley and PAINkiller) at lunch. One day a few years ago, I was spaced out on major prescription pain killers, muscle relaxers and anti-inflamatory meds for my back, which had gone out at work and sent me to the ER a little over a week before. It was a case of "Wow! Look at Mr. Hand!", and just the day before nearly sent me worshiping the Great Porcelin Gods. Needless to say, I was getting slaughtered by the others in DM-Lilandri, which was normally one of my better maps. But somehow, I saw that it was a bit easier to snipe from the shadows with a very short name. So being a punster, I tried to set my name to the space character, followed by an e, to indicate how spacey I was. It came out as "_e", and the rest as they say was history.

BTW...Ripley invited me to join BEL a few months later, and I then discovered the fun of typing messages like "Laugh", "Ache", "Dance" and such...think about it for a sec if you do not understand. But about a year later, BEL had its blow-up, and with the help of Ripley and Spammy, I managed to keep BEL alive.

As for life outside of UT (Reality...what a concept!), my name is Doug, and I am a 41 year old computer engineer. More about that in a sec. My wife, Becky, and I have been married since 1989, and we have a 10 yo daughter, Avis, who plays as Belle_e. Becky is more into games like Morrowwind and Might and Magic. Becky also has two full grown daughters from a previous marrage (Becky is 48 ), and they have two kids each. I am fortunate in that while my step-daughters are closer to their biological father than to me, they have brought up their kids calling me "Grandpa".

I mentioned that I am a computer engineer. Unlike most my age, I have been doing computers since I was 12, which is saying something considering that I grew up in Appalachia. Luckly, my Mom was a book keeper for a company which made well drilling equipment which was shipped all over the world to places like Saudi Arabia, the Gulf coast, Alaska and even the North Sea. She managed to convince her company to buy a computer for managing the inventory, payroll, etc., and we learned to program the machine together. Later, I lucked out and had a teacher who also worked PT at Marietta College, and who got me access to their computer so that I could learn languages such as FORTRAN. But I did not start out studying computers at college. I am an Air Force brat, and was one signature away from going to the Academy when I was told I could not become a pilot (a longer story there). So instead, I spent several years at Ohio State studying Astrophysics. Unfortunately, the undergrad physics program there was such that their sophomore statics/dynamics course was too hard for even 5th year seniors in engineering. To make yet another long story short, the year I took it, we started with 98 students, 92 of which were the 5th year seniors, and only 6 of us were physics, engineering physics or astrophysics majors. The first midterm wiped out all but 35 of us, and only 6 of us got a D average or better on the 3 quarter sequence (the highest was a C). I changed my major to chemistry, but other problems at OSU (lost grades, schedules, etc) convinced me to transfer out. I took a year off to decide what I was going to do, then spent a year at a tech school (where I met Becky). I then ended up at Ohio University, where I was the genuiea pig for their new "Computer Engineering" major being run out of the Electrical Engineering department.

I have been doing OS internals since the early 80's at Ohio State, and code I wrote way back then and later at Ohio U. has made its way into all sorts of systems, including Linux, Solaris and System V. I also worked as a student employee at OSU and OU, and helped get both onto what has become the Internet. Other places at which I have worked include CompuServe (I was the person responsible for their UN*X OS and USENET news server, among other things), and Lucent, where I was a part of what was referred to as "the greater Bell Labs". If you have ever seen reference to "CB UNIX", I worked for the group which created it years ago, with "CB" meaning "Columbus Bell". The Columbus in this case is Columbus, Ohio, where I still live. But if your company has an Audix voice mail or Conversant IVR system, those systems have code I wrote as a developer for those projects. The same can be said of the system which handles the 800 calls or the system which AT&T's uses to handle their collect calls. Indeed, there may still be some snippets of my code running around in the OS on the the switches handling your phone calls, or the Cisco switches handling your network traffic (I have not seen IOS source recently, but it was based on BSD 4). But I was at Lucent until Nov 2003, when I became yet another of the tens of thousands laid off in their struggle to survive. I am now a computer consultant, doing contract work for a company out in the SF Bay area, thankfully by telecommuting.

Well, like I said, my "little" was not likely to be so little. But that is a quick rundown of who I am, when I could have written so much more.

Catch you in the game!

Hey Spacey, I feel sorry for you doing chemistry. I know how what you mean when you have one of those classes where most people fail. My first semester O-Chem had about 80 people in it. About ten to fifteen dropped out after the first test. Only about 30 people passed the class. I almost had a B in the class and I was in the top 5% of the class. So, that shows what kind of a class that was. The professor was really hard. She used to teach at some of the Ivy League schools. The second semester O-Chem was about the same. The only thing that kept me with a high C is I came close to getting a perfect score on the final. No offense Spacey, but I hate chemistry, so I don't know how you majored in that.

Hi All,

biceps1 here. I am a bodybuilder from Montana, who is also a black belt in shotokan karate. I have been playing unreal since the game first came out way back when. Seems like I upgrade my computer every year or so just to have the speed to play UT.

If you get really bored you can check out my website at http://home.bresnan.net/~biceps11 .I wear a shirt that pretty much describes me, it says "I am not very smart, but I can lift heavy things!"

Glad to play on DC server and enjoy killing with most of you! If you see me online be sure to say hello!
