well, we just figured out today that the Piercing Super weapons could be the problem.. I fired my piercing ion and damaged some players a couple of times. Even Killed one. Dru was on at the time, and he thinks that possibly piercing super weapons have a bug. So be careful for now!

Actually I have found that I'm safer on space/low grav maps as they have much more open space and less walls to get slammed into. All I need to do after Redeemer kicks me half way across the map is use translocator to get back. Don't remember when was the last time I died from Reddemer blast in such maps.
I think Vortex is right, you get killed from friendly redeemer if the knockback from a Redeemer blast knocks you into a wall with enough power. On my old clan server we used to do that for fun - just to see how it works.
Oh man! This just made me think of one map back in UT99...anyone else remember the one with the set of rooms, all filled with deemers?? My! How that was fun!!!
As for the space/low grav, some maps I have found are fine if you just hide your TL someplace, and forget about multi-jumping back onto the map. Then there are those like Morpheus (IIRC), where nowhere on the three towers is truely safe for planting your TL, but you can pretty readily get back, even if it takes 5 or 6 throws.

Yesterday, i dont remember who, Redeemed 4 of us dead.
He was still alive so its not a "loosing proprietary" issue.
He also had a Normal Redeemer +3.
Im pretty sure it was not a bouncing effect that killed 4 of us, its almost impossible.
Something must be wrong somewhere, but that must be a very hard thing to figure out i guess.
Could it be quick fixed by just hardcoding everyone immune 100% to any kind of super weapons?

There is a catch Kitfox. When you fire a deemer and switch to another weapon before impact, the blast will have property of that other weapon. So, if you fire a deemer and switch to some piercing weapon, the deemer blast will be, in fact, piercing.
Lets use logic here. 1.73 version had no such problems with Redeemers so whatever is causing this was introduced in later versions. What is new since 1.73? New piercing weapons are one novelty.

I don't know if this will help Druid figure out any extra causes of Redeemer team damage, but I figured something very startling out yesterday.
I was running globe so I should have been invincible, but when I accidently Alt-fired a redeemer, the blast took me down to about 38 health from my starting 500. I suspect the properties of invulnerability and not having friendly fire are somehow overridden by the nose-camera view redeemer shot.
Are any of you noticing bad things happening when you guide one in as opposed to just dumb firing it?

That wouldn't explain Ion cannon kills either.

A few time when I used the camera mode I found when I came out of it I couldn't bring up any other weapons. This is probably because I was hit by a rock (not died though). That's pretty much why I dumb fire it most of the time. If I find another deemer on the map I can get things OK again, otherwise I have to suicide.

Well I think I may have figured out what causes you to take your own redeemer damage when you use globe and you stand right next to it.
When you switch to the deemer's camera mode the effects of the globe transfer over to the redeemer pawn. This is probably because you take control of it for a while. When the camera switches back to your own body the effects of the globe will as well.

Mmmm....wonder if it is possible to get a deemer denied while using the globe and it is still going?

ROFL, well thats something I'll have to have my players test out. I've never noticed because I dislike flying by wire. But alot of those other guys love it.

I don't know if this means anything but just wanted to mention that when I see one coming I crouch. I'm used to being blown off the map in low grav levels from the days as a low lvl player, and I haven't been killed by one that I can remember if I was crouched.

Well, I had an interesting experience last night that may be attributed to this.
I had my globe on, switched to the deemer and pulled the trigger. Just then another player jumped in front of me and I thought it was all over. But, though the deemer nose camera went all fuzzy with 'interferance snow' and I could see the flash from a deemer explosion at ground zero through this same camera (basically the tail end of the shock wave was visible in camera), the deemer was still flyable and exploded on what I wanted to target.
I actually thought I got into a lag issue until I realized I could still direct the deemer. Before I stake a claim that this works though, I am going to try to do it again and prove it wasn't a fluke. C'mon Titan, throw that rock, I dare ya.
