Ok, one more for the list!

On DVD: Hitman

I'll say this gets 6/10 stars. The biggest negative in this movie is the guy playing agent 47. I liked him in Live Free or Die Hard but in this movie it didn't seem like he could act his way out of a paper bag... Fortunately his mouth is closed for about 80% of the movie and he'd busy shooting things, which he does very well . The other characters in the flick were pretty good and as a whole it was a fun movie. The dialog was decent, as were the fight scenes, tho some were a bit...I dunno...too easy. Anyway, not the greatest, but certainly not terrible.

Stephen: Stephen is my name. I'm the most wanted man on my island, except I'm not on my island, of course. More's the pity.
Hamish: "Your island"? You mean Ireland?
Stephen: Yeah. It's mine.
Hamish: You're a madman.
Stephen: I've come to the right place then!

Finally saw 'Pan's Labyrinth'. I'll give it a 5.5 out of 10. I had higher expectations after what I've heard others say about the movie. The thing that bugged me most about the movie was the flow. It seemed to just jump around to different things which made me lose interest quickly. There were two times I was going to stop watching the movie, but decided to just finish it. The acting was ok and the special effects were also ok.

I have alot of movies to catch up on it seems... but here's a few I've watched recently.

Dan in Real Life - I thought it was a good movie, made me laugh, made me teary-eyed, was pretty good IMO. I'd give it a solid 8/10

I am Legend - Wierd movie, didn't really care for it too much, wasn't scary or intense or anything for me.... just something to watch... it only gets 4/10 rating from me and that's probably giving it a lil.

Sweeny Todd - Overall the story was good, yes I know it's like 90% a musical, but I actually enjoyed watching it for the most part, I give it a 6/10

Atonement - Yes, it's a chick-flick, kinda goes back and forth a few times, but the story was good in itself, kinda more of a moral movie than a romantic one, I have to give the ending some credit, as I did not see it coming and I probably should have realized it, but out of alot of movies, atleast it did tell what had happened and actually have an ending. My rating for this movie is 6/10

My new flick this week:

On DVD: 28 Weeks Later

This is the sequel to 28 Days Later, which I still think is one of the greatest zombie(but not really) movies ever.

Anyway, I thought this movie was decent, but it didn't really wow me in any way, certainly not anywhere near the caliber of the first one. This one was much much more harsh than the first, in the sense of violence, but the story was very weak. The characters were really undeveloped as well. I really didn't have any connection so when they start dropping off, I didn't feel bad at all. Just "wow, that was yet another interesting way to die..."

All in all I'd say 5/10. Its an ok scary flick, and I still love the cinematography (freaky-cool) so I'll give it points for that, but if it were any other genre, the missing elements would totally kill it.

Now, if you haven't seen 28 Days Later, and you enjoy scary flicks, watch it! It rocks.

cheers.

It isn't a movie, but a documentary.

Galapagos in High Def

Boingo got this for me! The cinemetography is excellent. They did a really good job at showing off everything the islands have to offer. They went through everything from how the island were formed, how they used to look, how they look now, the plant and animal species currently found on the different islands and what the island will look like. I could of used more in depth on the ecosystem, plants and animals, but it was just a three episode series. After some of the classes I took, it would of been interesting to hear about current studies being done on local populations and more detail on the individual plant and animal species. However, I still really enjoyed it and as I said, the picture quality was awesome!

Ok, so Cham and I got Netflix a few months ago and so far have been enjoying it. We watched Enchanted a couple nights ago and it was actually a lot better than I thought. We got a few good chuckles out of the sidekick chipmunk (who could speak in the cartoon world, but not in the real world). I'd say 6/10

The Birdcage - Ok, if none of you have seen this and need a good laugh, I definitely recommend this. Nathan Lane is hilarious! Robin Williams and Nathan Lane play a gay couple whose son is getting married to the girl of some politicians. Its about their antics of trying to impress the girl's parents without them finding out about their preferences. Hank Azaria also stars in this movie. 10/10

Ok, two more 3:10 to Yuma Very good remake! (But I'm a Christian Bale fan since Batman Begins) It wasn't quite as suspensful as the description made it out to sound, but there were a few parts that made me raise my eyebrows. 7/10

And Fun with Dick and Jane: I actually wasn't as impressed with this Jim Carrey movie as I thought I'd be. Maybe because he actually plays human in this movie. There's not a whole lot of facial manipulating as per his usual. But it was all right...I'd say 5/10

Iron Man!
I went into the movie with high expectations and I was impressed. The movie is very entertaining. Not once did I look at my watch or feel like a scene was unnecessarily long. I think the main villain could have used more character development, but that may just be me. It's nice that the inevitable sequel wasn't flaunted in people's faces like other comic movies ::cough fantastic 4::

I'd definitely recommend it. I may go back to see it again, which is a rare event for me.

I hate that it ended the way it did, now I gotta wait for who knows how long, for the next one....

For the first time in an age, Av and I went to see a movie with our friend Linda/Cat, who lives with us (and is the one really helping to keep me halfway sane with all the other crap going on in my life). We went out with a couple of other friends last night and saw Iron Man, which we are all three agreeing was a great movie. I would go see the sequel if it were out already, but alas, that must wait for about 2 years.

The last movie we saw was Golden Compass, which we all liked, even though Kidman's acting was such that she made us go from liking her to hating her because she did such a good job at her character. LOL...
