'I Am Legend' was 'Omega Man' (an old Charleton Heston Movie) but with Wil Smith.

And before that it was "The Last Man on Earth" from around 1964 with Vincent Price

Yeah, but The last man on earth wasn't really too good. At least, to me it wasn't. I always thought it was Orson Wells in that one though...Guess I was wrong.

Furry and proud of it!

Well, just got back from Sweeney Todd! I gotta say...wow. That was one crazy ride! Quite possibly the most brutal yet brilliant movie I've seen in a long time. The soundtrack alone makes this flick worth the ticket cost but pile everything else on there and you've got an incredible experience.

Be warned though, this is most definitely not for those with feint hearts or weak stomachs! Visually this movie is absolutely stunning and the acting is awesome. Depp and Mrs. Burton (Carter) do an incredible job in the lead roles and the supporting cast is great too! Needless to say it has Tim Burton written all over it.

Anyway, if you're up for a VERY dark, gory, evil, but deliciously awesome movie, go see this. If its on a dinner date, for the love of pete, eat dinner before the movie!

cheers.

Well...in past couple days I saw 3 movies..all out of theatres now:..Transfromers..Oceans 13..aaaand The Last Mimzy, but I'll just comment on the last and first one...

The Last Mimzy:
This movie seemed normal at first..but then...got confusing and muddled to me...
Then it gave a bunch of questions and no answers leaving the viewers more muddled...
The ending seemed a bit cliché..the general movie seemed to be sorta new age-ish.....
And welll...I only watched it cus my sister was....has a few "aw thats cute"moments..but its not a movie Id particularly re-see...
I wouldnt bother much if I were you ...6/10

Transfromers:
I know people who are transformer fans who didnt like the movie, but I dont care..Speaking from a view of 'a new movie' I thought it to quite great....had a few cheesy parts in there but it was pretty well done IMO...
I liked how the transformers themselves looked ..the voices...
Didnt like how they didnt give that much information or screen time for all the Decepticon-baddies
And of course there was advertising..everywhere in that movie...
Found the part with Sam running with the cube reminded me of LOR...dunno why though....

Curious to see how they would make a sequel...
Liked it alot...would see it again...8/10

I went to see Jumper last night and am a bit mixed on the movie. It was a free ticket so I wasn't really disappointed. The movie is based on the idea of being able to teleport anywhere in the world (pretty much) which I thought was a cool idea. The acting in the movie isn't that great, but doesn't really hinder the movie at all. I think what brought the movie down was the lack of a plot. They had a good idea, but really didn't have much of a story to run with it. It also bothered me that there was really no conclusion to any aspect of the story, a lot is left unexplained or just forgotten. And I thought the end was kind of random and odd. Either way I'd say forgo seeing it in theater and if you're really interested wait to DVD. I can't say I was ever really excited during the movie and for an action movie that was a bit of a let down. I'd give it a 6/10 overall.

This seems like a lot of movies for me in one month, but I went to see Vantage Point the other day. The movie features a pretty cool cast including Dennis Quaid, Sigourney Weaver, and "Jack" from LOST hehe. The movie is split up into two halves, the first is of the same event just rewinded and shown again in different points of view. I thought it was a neat idea and thought they did it very well. Although, the second half of the movie is where it picks up. The second half is where every "vantage point" comes together like a puzzle. The beginning was unique and interesting, but the second half was amazing. I was very surprised at this movie and definately recommend it. It's one great action, suspense, and mystery movie rolled into one!

Saw Cloverfield a while back, it wasn't the best but it could have been a lot worse. I kind of liked how they filmed it; the whole movie was filmed like you were holding the camera, the only problem with that is sometimes it's kind of hard to not get seasick

I didn't really like the ending very much. It just all of a sudden ended. I'd overall I'd say it's an ok movie, if you want to see it I'd wait till you can rent it on DVD. Probably a 6/10 or so...

Vantage Point looks awesome!!! I want to go see it.

Jumper- I'm with Pyra on that, it was an ok movie. I am a bit mixed, I didn't not like it, but I don't know if I would want to watch it again. It didn't have much of a story line, a lot seemed to be forgotten and the acting wasn't to fantastic. Except for Samuel L. Jackson (he always does good)

I just watched Sweeney Todd yesterday. This one is a must see! Finaly something new, refreshing and genious! I am telling you, you have not seen a film like this yet. The humour, the pace, the singing, the acting (hats off to Helena Bonham Carter!!! loved her in Fight club alredy), the story... perfect! Awesome colours, awesome light. The best film I've seen in a while! 10/10

Not for kids though, duh.

I also saw John Rambo a while ago. That was a nice suprise! The movie has that typical Stalone feeling all over the place. The story is reasonable, although somewhat simple. But that is not really what Rambo was about at any time, right? Its not overly heroic (but it is still Rambo) and it really shows the devastating power of war to you in a classic way that has become a trademark for Rambo movies. Again, I like the colors, they got it perfectly with the story. The lighting is.. well it looks like there is no artificial lighting, which works very well in this case (and is actually pretty hard to do, to light in such a way that it is not notable). The fights look so realistic it is disturbing at times! I like that the scenery looks pretty dull and crude. A fine conclusion of one of the classic movie series. 7/10

I just finished watching The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, and it was wonderful.

I don't know if it ever made it to theaters, but it's on DVD now.

It's a documentary on the saga of Billy Mitchell (the original and long-time record holder) and Steve Wiebe - two Donkey Kong fanatics who each have held the world record Donkey Kong score. It's a great movie for all of us video game geeks....especially those of us who are old enough to have played all those classic games when they first came out. Even non-video game types will like it. My wife loved it.

Even after the completion of the film, the two men continue to try to top each other. Steve is in Las Vegas right now trying to break the record again. Billy currently holds the Guinness record.

It's also fun to check http://www.twingalaxies.com/ (the group that collects all the records) just to see other records and facts.

Overall a great film.

This movie just came out to DVD, but I had the privilege of watching the movie Into The Wild. The movie is about a young man who graduates college and instead of going onto Harvard he donates all of his money to charity and abandons his old lifestyle to live off the land. He goes travels across the country living off the wild and people's generosity, with a goal to reach Alaska.

I decided to give the movie a shot because I love movies about the woods, but this is much more than that. Each person he runs into has their own fascinating story. Overall this movie is a beautiful piece of film through it's story and locales. I thought this movie had some of the best acting I've ever seen and one of the few movies that I really felt strong emotion for. The movie gives a unique outlook on life and really got to me. The movie's not for everyone, but I highly recommend it 10/10... possibly my favorite movie.

Well, saw a couple flicks this weekend, thought I'd drop in a note!

In Theaters: 21

Uhg, this movie was a huge letdown. I was very stoked to see this for a couple reasons.
1. I love card counting Vegas tricky sorta movies. Anything where a clever scheme can beat a super defined system is interesting to me.
2. Kevin Spacey. 'Nuff said.
So yeah, the previews were excellent (Wall-E looks awesome!) but it was all downhill from there. Pacing was horribly slow, characters were completely undeveloped, humor was rare (tho the uber-nerd banter got a chuckle outta me). Dialog was pretty painful as well... Anyway, I'd give it 2 of 5 stars because Laurence Fishburn was very cool, as usual. Not really even worth a rental though, imho.

On DVD: 3:10 to Yuma

This more than made up for the mistake that was 21! This is a great western flick about a man trying to regain the approval and admiration of his son and wife by accompanying a notorious coach robber & murderer to a train station to send him to prison. It's a fairly harsh flick but very well written and fantastically acted! Russel Crowe and Christian Bale play the main roles and do an awesome job. Anyway, I highly recommend this one. Woulda been worth the theater price!

cheers.
