ok i had an idea for the triple damage artifact.

allow useage of this artifact with the doubledamage pickup.

yes. i realize that the ammount of damage you could potentailly do with this combo is staggering, but i can couter that.

make it eat adrenaline much, MUCH faster if you have the doubledamage.

this could be usefull to players of low level and for people who are the last alive, and trying to kill insane ammounts of warlords/titans/(insert other monster type here)

ATM i think that the triple damage is underused and that this would make it a more valued artifact.

comments? please dont tell me im crazy

On the contrary, I use the triple damage continuously on certain waves where the number of monsters available can sustain it over time. The trouble with Triple Damage is that it already eats so much adrenaline no one can use it for very long unless they have pumped a good deal of points into their Adrenaline Max stat or have bought Adrenal Surge. I think its fairly balanced as is and the only reason people dont use it much is because it is hard to keep running for more than 30 seconds.

As for the DC server, their monsters are worth a generally standard amount of points and with 12+ players on all the time, no one can kill enough monsters to keep their adrenaline up.

I disagree. Maintaining adrenaline is not that difficult (and I have done this with a low-level character) even without the adrenaline skills. I've never even tried adrenal surge and the like, so I'm assuming this would get even more out of hand with those, but even with just an energy weapon triple damage is pretty burly. It doesn't need to be more so.

Besides, can you imagine someone with damage bonuses maxed, doing 6x the damage of their weapon? It would enable high level players to kill everything before anyone else had even a chance to do so.

That is a brilliant idea! I never even considered using an energy weapon with triple damage! I'm gonna have to stop chucking my energy weapons and give that a shot!

good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun.

A good energy weapon will make the triple damage last for long periods of time, even without having dropped anything into adrenaline. When you're facing a couple of big critters, it can really help out your survivability, health, and exp gain to kick the triple on for a few seconds. You don't have to have 100 adren for the triple, so you can use it to quickly wound a queen/titan and finish them off without the amp.

Then you need to find more ammo

When I tuned all this, I set it up like so:

With amp damage maxxed, and a +10 vorpal avril, you can't quite kill a titan in one hit.

What does that mean? Without double or triple damage you're packing about 800+ points in a single hit.

That's 8 times a players base health.

So let's do the math on this...

With double damage, that will be 1600 points.
With triple damage, that will be 2400 points.

If I made it so the artifact multiplied double dam and triple dam (3*2) we'd have 6 times damage, or 4800 points of damage

So what does that mean? 4800 points is kinda hard to calculate...

Well that means if there was a monster that had the health of an onslaught power core (4500) it would be more than dead from a single hit.

This is just too obscene for me to seriously consider...

That means that the AVRiL launches some seriously explosive cigars.

(OT) On the note of amped damage though, is it just me or does vamp not accurately give you life based on damage bonuses from stats and pluses? I have this sneaking suspicion that 15% of a LG blast w/ 80pts of damage (+40%) should give me more than 11-12 hp...

I wonder if it does the vamp before the damage adjustment from your character... maybe the % is only off the original damage

All of your calculations based on damage need to take into account the Damage Reduction and Damage Bonus stats.

If you are shooting an amped up avril at a monster, it will only do the damage you are suggesting if you ignore the fact that the monster has a DR stat of his own to add into this equation. Also remember that the higher your level, the higher the monsters DR is going to be. So eventually, with DB capped like it is on your server, a triple damage Avril could potentially do less than 100 damage even.

Vampirism works the same way. The health you siphon from a monster is based on the final damage you cause it, not the base damage your weapon will do.

Ahhh, okie. Didn't know they had a DR stat. Guess I'll just have to keep pumping ammo into monsters, then.
