Denial level 2 + Loaded Weapons Exploit  XML

Hi Druid,

Firebaall from over at the Bobs' Dawga server. Have you given any more thought to the abuse issue over having Denial Level 2, and Loaded Weapons Level 4/5?

I know you don't play alot of PvP games like CTF,LTS, or DM on the DC server. Over on Dawga these game types are as popular as Invasion. The combination of these skills is reaching the point of an exploit and we need to do something to stop the abuse.

Imagine trying to attack, and capture a flag. Picture 5 or 6 of the opposing team all using null/freezing mini guns, or flack cannons. It's not possible, no matter what level you have. Now imagine each and every game of CTF,LTS, or DM devolving into this freezing/null fest. Not fun.

The problem is that this combination of skills lets each and every player get the most powerful of magical weapons. Either they get killed enough times to pop up with one, or they flat out kill themselves until they get what they are looking for. Then once they have them, they have them for the rest of the game. At about the half way point in a match, you are suddenly looking down the barrels of 6 null +5 mini guns. Again, not fun.

I know that Loaded Weapons level 3 ( the redeemer and ion painter ) is disabled for PvP gametypes. If this could be done with Denial level 2, the issue would be gone. In Invasion, this isn't an issue. You can't keep comming back to life while trying to get those type of weapons. If this isn't an easy thing to fix, we'll have to remove Denial level 2 as an option to keep the game within the scale of the RPG game model.

I've been talking to bushbomb about this.

To tell ya the truth, I'm thinking about making it so you cant have denial and loaded weapons at the same time. I've had people tell me they have bugs with it, and it's plainly exploitable...

The other possibility that I haven't looked into is making loaded weapons so that you only get it once every x minutes in gametypes other than invasion. This idea will take me a lot of study though, as I dont know how to keep objects around after a player dies...

One more comment though. On our server, if we had someone exploiting the flaw, they wouldn't be playing on our server again.

True Druid...

I've kicked a couple that were killing themselves on purpose. But in a game of CTF, this happens naturally. We could always change the stat points to purchase Denial 2 to something outrageous. 1,000 should do.

How about make denial like resurrection? You die the 1st time you get to keep your weapon, after that if you stay alive with the weapon for more than 5 minutes you get to keep the weapon. If you die within the 5 minutes, you lose the weapon. Could that be done?

Oh, Dawga also seems to get all the Disastrous Consequences rejects. All the banned people from here go there.

Ok, so I haven't figured out all the details to making loaded weapons not load double weapons, but I was able to fix this problem, I'll be loading it on the DAWGA server shortly. I made a new "bushbombNoWeaponDrop" ability that allows everything to go as normal. The changes are that I specified denial level 2 is only effective in invasion style maps, very similar to how you made LoadedWeapons "superweapons" only effective in invasion Druid. I would still be very thankful if you could help me out some on the duplicate weapons thing Druid. I'm a decent programmer, but a virgin when it comes to unreal script so to speak. Only my 1st week touching it. Since I program a lot, I can follow existing code, but since a lot of this is like making a bat file (much more primitive than VisualStudio .NET stuff) I can't always figure out the perfect syntax to make it work. Did you get a chance to read my post in the 155 Beta thread about what might remove duplicate weapons? Thanks again for any help you can provide. It seems a few lines in the DruidLoaded.UC file would do the trick, but I'm lost when it comes to UScript Syntax.

Could you fix the problem by having denial not work if they suicide? Unfair for the random suicider, but it'd require someone finding a friendly enemy to axe 'em to pull the exploit. Supposedly.

Yeah I saw it. I've just been running about with my head cutoff and I'm trying to catch up.
