Greetings all, I'm just writing to let you know that the new rev of DruidsRPG is nearing completion.
Currently I have a bug in the standard summon charm, and a larger issue of how to upgrade previously stored RPG data to the latest version. The latter is the majority of the work, but I hope to have it online for testing by next weekend.
This is a major schema change from previous revisions. It adds 3 RPG Classes: "Weapons Master" "Adrenaline Master" and "Monster Master" (These classes are abilities with a cost of 1)
Previously where skills were dependent upon one-another now they simply depend upon these base classes.
Also, quite obviously, this adds a Monster / Medic Master class which will be extremely useful for team play. They'll be able to pick monsters to summon, and also have bigger bonuses for using a new special healing weapon granted only to them.
They can summon a herd of Nali cattle, or a single titan, assuming they have enough points to do so.
I had wanted to get this up this weekend, but it's taken me a while to figure out how to gracefully handle this schema change.

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

Looking forward to it. Thanks for all the hard work you put in behind the scenes to keep improving the game and keeping it running. Very much appreciated by all of us.
As far as the schema change is concerned, one option would just be to give everyone their points back, get rid of all purchased stats and skills and let everyone re-spend the points. Much less work for you. You also wouldn't have to cope with all the requests for 'can you reset my points so I can try.....'
Is the new hud going to be limited to just the Monster Master class, and will it be a skill for purchase?

Everyone will still have the new HUD, although in a future release, the color wont be health based, rather it will be based upon the monster's class and level, configured on the server....

Nope, but I will take patches... I suspect it would be easy to override whatever method does this in SMPTitan and SMPStoneTitan

I can't tell you how tempting this is. I might make just this go, but I wont be allowing players during such a global "Reset" to play a monster master. I'll still be deriving which class you are now and leaving you with it.
The way it is currently, I might be able to upgrade players and then force them to reconnect to the server. It's also a pain, but not nearly as bad as resetting all their stats.
The best solution would be to create an upgrade mutator that reads all your stats on the first tick and takes care of this. This is the best and the most likely solution.
I'll think on it.

I guess that a when it's done isn't quite what you're looking for
There's no word. My server is running it to test the class out. There's an ongoing discussion in the server forum about it that you're welcome to read.
I dont think you'd want it in it's current iteration, as you'd have a real hard time running it, and then dealing with the cleanup when I make more sweeping changes.

2 questions... why would it be hard to cleanup when u make more changes and what does the mutrpgreplacer do?

Because I might make catastrophic changes to the medic class that you'd have to reset all your medic players for.
Do you mean DruidsRPGUpgrader or something to that affect? It upgrades old data to the new class based format, otherwise you'd have to reset everyone on your server manually.

Well for me if someone hasnt got the version of an ability e.g
If i have that in my ut2004rpg.ini
Abilities=Class'DruidsRPG188.ClassAdrenalineMaster'
and someone had this in thiers:
Abilities=Class'DruidsRPG187.ClassAdrenalineMaster'
then the Abilities=Class'DruidsRPG188.ClassAdrenalineMaster' would be removed from thier list when they enter the server

Yes Druid made that replacer mutator so that when people join the server with the new version running they wouldnt lose all of their skills and then be able to keep their current level and switch classes. That would be an unfair jump to a high level in a class they didnt earn their way through.
Although if you dont care what they do then you dont need to use that mutator.
