I've heard a bunch of humoruos remarks about the lack of music in the KillBillyBarn map. If anyone has any ideas about a song that they would like to put with that map, let's hear it.

I don't want to get into any copywrite issues with your favorite aritist, so it has to be music that is bundled with the game. If you remember a map that had cool music that you liked, name the map or just give the name of the music if you know it.

My favorite music has has always been in DM-DE-Grendelkeep. It doesn't really work, though.
Maybe you could find some royalty-free hillbilly-esque music? Some gutbuckets and whatnot?

Edit: Chyster, I go to school at Texas State - I am like 2 hrs away from you (and 40 mins away from Blade)

Anybody here play an instrument? We could make this a server project...

We could write something; either purely instrumental or with vocal, and someone could record the first part. Then we ship that to the next musician, who adds their instrument. And repeat however meany times necessary. Then add vocals (or not, depending) and have our own song!

Just a crazy idea, mods delete this if stupidity is the first thing that comes to mind.

I own a copy of Acid, a pretty cool sound tool, that I use to make snippits of various lengths for my daughters. They are both cheerleaders (wife is the coach) and I got elected to do the music.

I don't write music, but just go with the flow and they usually just turn out good (usually is a major key word here). If ya'll wanna throw some "homemade" stuff at me, I might could slap something together.

Like I said before though, I don't wanna get into copywrite issues or chase down an artist for permissions, so everything would have to be absolutely new, and all participants must give me written consent to use their music that they submit.

I recently DLed this map for my co-workers when we play at lunch. The file I got had music with it. I do not know why there is a discussion of a lack of music with this map. It's OK as a tune goes, but I had something I wanted to play instead. Got the map from File Front.

I DLed a MP3 to OGG converter and made a nice copy of a Bluegrass version of the Greatfull Dead's Casey Jones. I really like it and it goes well with the map. It's purely instrumental. I do not have a place to host this file for people to get a listen. If there is a place on DC to place it, I can email it to whoever can place it for everyone.

I do not know the author of this version of the song. Got it from a file sharing communitee some years ago.

Any input is welcome, even an upload of the original tune that came with the map, or DL it from File Front, it's in there.

I'm a big fan of Mushroom Lakes music and also stalwartclassic. The mushroom one is more mellow and stalwart is much more techno ish, but I love both.

If I understand what's going on correctly, the problem encountered is the same problem every map with custom music has if you don't download it in it's original form, but rather get it served to you from a server when you go to play it.

The music that comes with the map originally is fine to me - very fitting.

However, I've got a bunch of OGGs I made from my CD collection and use the UT2004 music player to play them most of the time ...

It is fine and does fit the map, but we dont have any problems playing that map, or playing the music. All the other people playing on our LAN at lunch has the original music, I have my converted MP3. Someone else hosts the match and my music plays exactly as I want it to. All I did was rename the new OGG the same as the original. The game didnt care as long as it found the correct music file the map was calling for, as I believe it should. I just renamed the original something slightly dif. so it wouldnt try to load it, but also to keep it in case I needed it.

I play piano/keyboard and started guitar late last year, but hardly picked it up this summer due to riding season.

SO, back to the subject in hand, to overcome anyone not having any music with this, or any other map with it's own music file, to DL it so you have it, because the auto download of maps from server to client does not give you the music. So sayith BotFodder. And I concure.

Still, anyone who wants music with a map, just recored (or convert) a song to OGG and name it to the same as the origianl file the map is coded for and there you go. Just make a copy or rename the original for safe keeping.

Case closed.

...i think music without words is better for games, thou not many maps..(that ive playd at least..) have ever had actually lyrics....so yeah
