Frustrated with trying to get my headset mic to work...

I have been trying off on on for what seems like forever to get my headset to work. If I plug it into my the computer I can here myself find they the speakers, but when I try to play 2k4 with it, it never seems to work. Any hints on how to get it to work?

/I can live without it (never used it in 99) just figured it might make things a tad easier is all

This was one that was talked about earlier that may help you...
For me I couldn't get mine to work when I was using a Socom headset, but eventually got it... I had to go through these steps for the Socom one
1) Go to my computer
2) Click "change setting"
3) click sounds and audio devices
4) Now I think that you have to click on the audio tab and put your default device as the headset and the sound recording device as the headset.
5) Then go over to voice and due the same for those
6) I would test the hardware to make sure the microphone's volume is on, or if you have a "lock microphone" somewhere on the headset (mine does)

For my new headset I just had to go into the audio settings like before and test the hardware, that was it... I hope at least some of this helps...

) is that not every1 can hear u if u press like "p" to talk, thats what i found out of

You might want to see if the 20db boost is on as well. You can find this by right clicking on the speaker icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. Left click on Adjust Audio Properties, Left click on the Voice tab up top, Left click on volume under recording properties, make sure the box under the microphone slider is checked, then Left click on Advanced under the microphone slider, make sure the 20db boost box is checked at the bottom.

Also when you join a game, if someone is talking when you join you will not be able to hear them and vice versa. Good luck, and make sure you are using the right key to key up your mic in the game.
