DOF Chronicles

It was the first meeting of the new clan. The four members found themselves at equidistant points in their virtual environment. The large surrounding cavern providing light from several undetermined sources displayed featureless walls of gray stone and a rocky floor that was more or less even. Nailer broke the ice with his usual tact. "You know," he commented, "this conference room could use a few amenities. There's no chairs, no table, and I could really use a drink." "Hear, hear," joked dcs, "where's the restroom? I need to use the facilities."
"You should have thought of that before you came here," admonished SteelAce. "Now that we're all here, why don't we get down to business?" They moved toward the center of the room; all except cplmac, who was walking the perimeter of the cave, looking up and down. "Corporal, what's the problem?" Nailer asked. "I'm looking for a door," came the muffled response. "I don't like closed in places." The other three stared at him. "I mean, what if there's a fire or something?" The silence became heavy as the three glanced at each other, then returned their gaze to cplmac, who finally turned to see his companions regarding him as a stranger; the kind you only find living under the close supervison of state authorities. "Just a joke, OK? I'm fine." No response. "No, really, I was just kidding." The three in front of him could have been carved from stone for all their reaction. "Look, I'm a little claustrophobic, OK? It's not a big deal." They continued staring. "I can handle it, alright?" The silence stretched out.
"Alright," commented SteelAce, "if there are no more questions, we can.." "Is it cold in here?" interjected cplmac, "It feels cold." SteelAce reached for his assault rifle....
