map idea but need help making it  XML

I am unfamiliar with how to make the maps in unrealed. can anyone teach me how to use it?

one part of the map has a map object be attackable and a target for the monsters. how do I make it so the monsters will attack an object. also same object needs a link gun target so it can be healed. is this possible?

Anything is possible in Unreal Tournament as long as it does not interact with the real world. I can help you with UnrealEd as with stuff that I know. Now, to the map you are talking about.

Yes it is possible to make monsters attack a certain object. This would have to involve making the monsters have the object as an enemy or using scripted actions to force them to attack it. This sounds like an easy job for OSMT, where u have a very strong and powerful monster intelligence system. You can make them trigger alarms, activate certain things, play different animations, and all kinds of other stuff. Official thread here:

I'm trying to keep it so it will work with the mutators on dc without having to add any. is that possible with what you speak of

I have confidence that this gametype will not interfere with DC's mutators and add-ons. If it does, it just might need a little tweaking.

Also note that I am not the best coder. I can make some basic and very little advanced stuff. I might be able to help a little depending on how it is to be done and whether or not if I know how to do it. If you are to bring your idea to life, you will need more than just me.

long time ago i made few maps (for self entreteiment) however i know a web page that can teach you.. really easi really fast and you will learn from the basic to the top level...

Oh yea! I remember 3DBuzz, that was one of my sources I got for learning about KarmaActors, but they never worked until I watched one last of his videos again and learned that my quality and details have to be completely maxed for them to work.
Now I use the book called "Unreal Technology: The Art of Level Design." It's a really great book, has everything I learned about UnrealEd in it. The only things I learned that were not in the book was simple tips and tricks.

Here you go trooper! I was trying to create something like this but failed.

This mutator is supposed to work by making monsters spawn at player starts with a TeamNum property of 1. Just set a playerstart with that property set to 1 and monsters will spawn there and players will spawn at starts with TeamNum set to 0. I tested it and it works. Just keep in mind that the MonsterMover mutator will occasionally move these monsters around the map.

I was also wondering if we could have this on the server as a separate choice of map voting. We can vote for CTF maps and such and have the monsters spawn on blue.

The problem with monsters spawning in one half of the map means the other half of the map is empty.

Players like Elite would have a field day - not even having to run around the map to find the monsters, but having them spawn close by. The top level players would be where the monsters are spawning, and the frequency of monsters may make it easier to keep sprees running. So, if you assume for the first 11 waves not a single monster getting through to red, I don't think there will be many people in red.

Plus any monsters that do get through will be down to the monster mover - so it won't be like you can barricade the bridges between the two halves of the map.

So the concept is great, but I am not sure it will work out in practice.
