Has anyone else downloaded the Crysis demo yet?

It's definitely worth checking out. The demo is a whopping 1.8 gig, but there's a lot to it.

The game looks absolutely gorgeous. Gameplay is solid, and the demo is just plain fun to play. There isn't any multiplayer in it, and I'm curious to see what that is like.

As for system specs, Crysis seems a bit more demanding than UT3. I can run UT3 on high settings without too much of an issue, but Crysis makes my FPS nearly grind to a halt on high settings. I don't even want to think about what very high would look like.

Anyway, Crysis is shaping up to be a great game. Perhaps another must-have for the holiday season.

yip, I'm downloading it now. It's a high end game made for the newest systems. That's why its so demanding.

Ok, got problems with the demo. For some of us, there has been trouble with the display in game. for me, I have one side of the screen fine, bu the other is extremely distorted. But, Nvidia has come up with a new driver specially made to add Crysis to the list of playable games it can support. update your drivers now before you get it and you can avoid this trouble.

DLed it yesterday, checked it out today. With my PC specs, it wont let me up any setting above LOW....not even to see how it will affect game play...
Evidently, it knows more than I do..
Overall, feels just like Far Cry....and that was a fun game as well. Dont have the controls down yet so I havnt experimented with the suits capabilities.

My dads' system can play it a full. Here's a good overveiw of the whole thing.
'I had a couple of hours last night for Crysis Demo and have to tell you its just like Far Cry but a whole lot better. The non linear game play is back but the visuals are amazing. The closest I have seen to photo reality. When I had first heard about shooting down Palm trees, I thought that was going to be pretty cheesy but as it turns out its pretty fun. When you move through the jungle, stuff reacts just like it should. The 5.1 sound is excellent. One of the fun parts about the difficulty is that if you play at the medium settings, the Koreans speak in English so you can figure out what they are doing and react to it. If you play at the high setting, they only speak Korean making it even more challenging because you can't anticipate their moves. Several pod casts I have listened to say that you guys should be able to play it just fine but without some of the eye candy. The word also is that no one can play it maximized as the hardware is not yet available to support the graphics. Be sure you install the latest beta Nvidia drivers.'

The people who make Crysis are clearly too into it for me.

15 minutes after starting the game, I still wasn't playing it. I had seen a short demo, but I was waiting for yet another screen explaining plot, that while I'm sure fascinates them, doesn't really interest me; except that I'm forced to watch it all because no keypress or mouseclick will move past it.

All I wanted to do was try the game!?

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

Dru, you can skip past all that stuff. just click the mouse a few times or hit the space bar or escape key a few times and you bypass all of it. I did a few times when I was trying to figure out why my screen was so distorted.

A "Far Cry" clone is what comes to mind.

Without thinking I set everything to the "high" setting and had nothing but problems-had to go back into the settings and reset everything to "medium".

Gameplay is pretty much straightforward and the HUD is nice.

Eyecandy game.

Had a lot of fun playin this demo today! I'm a prime candidate for this type of game, bein a half life, FPS single player junky and all. Anyway, played on all high settings with 2x AA and it ran smooth. Jumped it to 4x and thats where things got choppy.

Anyway, very fun game, love the suit concept, having different modes and all. The demo is a brutal cliffhager tho. Things finally get freaky and whammo, please purchase...

Anyway, if you enjoyed FarCry, you'll love this! Love the destroyable environments, choppin down trees with a hummer-mounted machine gun! Bad guys had cover...poof!

Another demo suggestion, when you're in the hummer, you come to a point where the guys in the town pop a flare to call reinforcements. Theres a big sloping boulder you can run your hummer up and jump it over the fence and into one of the buildings! Just make sure you bail right before it lifts off or you'll be right in the middle of it.

Ok ok, I'm done. Anyway, gotta go buy the full version! Good times!

cheers.
