If you like non stop action and unrealistic flight sims Warhawk is out. I downloaded it just after midnight last night local time. If you ever wanted to fly a craft that can pull turns that a human could not survive, this is your type of fly\shooter sim.

Im still getting used to the controls (as were most of the people online last night) but it is very easy to jump right into, besides being able to pull a super tight turn at a speed that is insane, the dogfights use the same type of classic real world maneuvers that were used in WW2. Additionally, the armament is anything but old. IF you don't enjoy flying, this might not be the game for you.

I saw a preview of it. Seems like it just isn't a flight sim, but you can play as a soldier on foot or in a ground vehicle as well.

True.

The thing is, the warhawk is not a normal fighter, the maneuverability is just off the chart, with the speed that it can fly, the number of simulated gees that the pilot would be pulling would be impossible.

It is a game that tries to get the quick fun element of war play without going into great detail.

The only real problem that I have with the game is that the servers are always brimming!

How well does the online game play? Is there any lag or anything? How many people play at one time? The game looks like it would be fun, but the fact that it is an online only game makes me not want to get it. I'd like to have a single player option as well.

I got this game as an early Christmas present just a few days before Christmas. I've only played it a few times, but it is pretty fun. I think the surround sound for the game is very nice. The graphics are well done as well. It is hard to just jump in a game and expect to do anything. Other players won't care that you are brand new. I died about ten times in the first few minutes as I was running around just trying to figure things out. I stayed away from flying any Warhawk around at first. I got used to running around and actually got an award/medal for shooting down an X amount of enemy Warhawks with the missile launcher. I did eventually get into a Warhawk and started flying around. It is more hazardous flying around guys on the ground with missile launchers then it is with enemy Warhawks flying around. It definately takes getting used to the controls and understand how to use the weapons. It was nice getting the bluetooth ear piece/mic. I mostly just use it for my cellphone, though. I can't really hear anybody all that well in the game using it.

Here is a little video I shot to show what the game is like. It is sorta like playing an onslaught map. The video shows the 'zone' gametype where your team has to take over zones of the map and keep control of them. There is also capture the flag, deathmatch, etc. The zone one is pretty fun, though.

Oooh! Looks like a lot of fun! I love arcade style dogfight games. Just barely snagged a copy of Crimson Skies for the xbox (1st gen). I had rented it a couple years back and it's the same style of game, minus the ground level playing. It's a total blas tho, awesome when you have a few people on it with a projector or big screen.

Anyone know of any similar PC games? I'd love to find one and pick up a yoke & pedals...

cheers.

Stephen: Yeah. It's mine.
