Ok, so perhaps I have a vindictive nature, but I'm wondering if I can get Szlat to hook up his magic on a null warlord.

I can see that it would be easy to extend them and make them apply the null, but I was hoping for a little of your magic with the projectiles. making them look evil and black

Think I can talk you into it?

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

I can knock up some black projectiles.

(EDIT: text about PoisonQueen moved to separate post)

An alternative to consider would just be to modify the BeamWarlord code, since no-one has used that yet. I think it fires energy blasts - just change them to have a null entropy effect.

However, here is a possible alternative. We already have things that null entropy or freeze. And forcing people to stand still against a warlord attack is a bit counter productive, as then the rockets miss. How about giving them a knockback effect instead? Just a thought.

I want the players to have a chance of dodging the rockets though...

"Do not try to dodge the rocket; that would be futile. Instead, try to recognize the truth."

"What's that?"

"That rockets do not need to be dodged."

At the moment, the warlord rockets have a speed of 1000. The Beam Warlord energy blasts have a speed of 2400. It is still possible to dodge the energy blasts, but the rockets are a lot lot easier.

The problem is, unless the warlord is above you firing down, you do not need to dodge them. They will miss anyway.

Reducing the speed of the energy blasts to 1200 makes them easy to dodge. So, you could adjust the speed of the blasts for the required difficulty and use them.

It's up to you. I was just offering a suggestion to save you the hassle of creating a new skin for the Null Warlord. You couldn't just use the existing warlord skin as you will want to mix the existing warlord with the Null Warlord, and the player needs to know what type of warlord it is before he gets hit by the rocket. A differently colored rocket will not be sufficient, as that gets seen too late IMHO. (in the same way, I had to give the Lava Skaarj a different skin, as it wasn't fair for people to have to wait until the skaarj fired to work out what they were up against)

Continuum has just sent me a cool dark skin to use for a Null Warlord. It looks good. So I'll put it in cvs later today.

Ok.
Added Continuum's warlord skin to DCMonsters.utx.
Created new "Black" rocket. Actually I used the Null Entropy weapon skin to give a black rocket flecked with white. In new static mesh file DCMonstersStaticMesh.usx. If you were after something slightly different, let me know.
Added 3 classes to DCMonsters for the Null Warlord to correctly select the skins etc.

All you have to do now Druid is add the Null Entropy stuff, and set damage, health, scoringvalue etc.

Neat. I'll see if I can get that together this weekend.

I know you are busy Druid, so I thought if you were going to do a build soon, we might as well get this one in as well.

So I have updated cvs so the NullWarlords do slightly less damage than a Warlord, but can null for up to 3 secs.
