I was bored so I created another monster - the Vampire Gnat.

Based on the RazorFly. It sucks a certain amount of health from you and grows. The bigger it gets, the more damage it does.
When it gets to a certain size, it splits into 2 half size Vampire Gnats.

Get them while they are small, and they are no problem.
Wait until they start dividing and you have problems. When you get four of them, I find the usual way I kill them is with ultima.

In cvs.

Next one is the PoisonQueen spawning PoisonPupae.

Ok, will do, as soon as I get chance. I'll put the RPGNali and the VampireGnat in.

By the way, I am thinking of changing the VampireGnat so it is a pack animal. If there are two or more in the same vicinity, they will all attack the same target. What do you think?

I might also change the targetting AI. The VampireGnat gets no health from attacking vehicles, so should target them as a lower priority. Since the VampireGnat gets health on a percentage basis, perhaps they should gang up on the highest health player around?

Or am I just being mean?

Ok, I have updated the VampireGnat code. Changes are:
  • It's slower
  • Each official gnat will only spawn a max of 4 descendants
  • It does less damage
  • It absorbs less of the damage it does, so grows slower
  • They lose some health on splitting
    Maybe you guys might manage them now.

    Unfortunately, although I have re-coded it, I am not able to test it at the moment. If one of you guys could just test it and make sure there is nothing too obviously wrong with it, then at the next build the gnats will hopefully be more balanced

    And score changed in cvs so now worth 3 rather than the 1 they used to be.
