Thinking of szlat's new monsters  XML

If we want to incorporate szlat's new monsters, we need a new monster config.

You can pull down our current config from here

http://www.disastrousconsequences.com/satoreMonsterPack.ini

Think about what we might want to change, and how. Also, in satore there's more of a random monster config, where you can pick which waves certain monsters appear, and their probabilities. I wouldn't mind using that instead of this more static model.

Anyway, if someone wants to come up with a new monster config, post it up here and we'll give it a try.

I'm no good at this kinda thing. However, I do have a suggestion: a combination of the two (if that's possible.)

Odd waves (using wave numbers 1-16, not 0-15) are fixed. Even waves are random. That would mean that we'd have to shift the three famous waves (6, 12, and 14) to odd waves. That way, players have some things they can expect and count on each match, but also something to mix it up.

I like the idea of some random waves - not sure how to configure though.

For the weekend, it might be worth just getting the occassional new monster, especially if you are testing Engineers at the same time. It would be nice to have some waves unchanged. So, perhaps add

Poison Pupae on wave 3
Laser Krall on wave 5
IceKrall on wave 7
BioSkaarj on wave 9
Ghost Skaarj on wave 12
Metal Titan on wave 14

Heh, the wave config above is missing wave 1. That turned out ok though because I've currently got wave 16 tuned to almost all new monsters.

We'll eventually need a solid wave config that encompases more.

Once we have played the monsters for a while, we might want to tweak them. Are some too easy or too difficult, or would it be slightly better if.....

For example,
  • Should the PoisonPupae do more damage? I think so. Or I actually prefer the thought of the damage being wave based. So, on wave 2 it does a small amount of poison damage say 5%. On wave 16 it will do 30%.
  • Should the IceKrall freeze you for longer? Again, should it be wave based?
  • Should the BioSkaarj (red) do more damage?
  • Should the metal titan move slower, but throw slugs of metal which do more damage?
  • Do we need a PoisonQueen that spawns PoisonPupae?

    The other thing we need are decent names for the monsters. The ones currently configured in I gave the following names:
  • BioSkaarj - I think Lava Skaarj as others have called it may be better?
  • PoisonPupae
  • Ice Krall
  • Metal Titan - I have heard it called Titanium Titan
  • Ghost Skaarj
  • Laser Krall and Laser Behemoth

    So, any suggestions?

    I am looking at that sample configuration I posted, and I am wondering where I got it from? Why are there so many nalis in it?
