I play UT2K4 at work at lunch, and the 2 people who run servers (me and one other) have a common problem that started a year ago or so. When running the server, every so often the screen spins out of control in all dirctions (kinda like playing descent) weapon fires constatly and does this for a few seconds. Then it just stops in some direction. I dont know if anyone else playing sees the character spinning, but it really makes it tuf for whoever hosts the game at lunch. Any suggestions or people who have experianced this too? We are running patch 3355 ( I think) We dont have a port to play on line so we just play against each other. This only plagues the server during game play. It's totally random and you dont know when or how many times it will do it in a 1/2 hour period.

We arnt running any 3rd party MODs, we have Druids Anti Camper installed, but not running usually, and sometimes Exploding Corpses, but I dont use these and it still does it. Suggestions?

Well, I don't know if it is related or not as I don't run a server on my machine, but the same problem was happening to me client side on any server and on single player. I then noticed it was also happening with a couple of other games. I replaced my mouse (generic optical ps2 model) with a new one (logitech 6 button usb with higher resolution) and poof, spinning dizziness of doom went away! (usually would happen when the heat was on and a lot of mouse movement was needed to survive) I'm thinking it was the res and the refresh speed of the mouse during high speed movement.

I had this problem on another mouse as well, then replaced it with a MS generic 2-button white one (im very comfortable with using the generic MS mouses), and the problem has not occured since.

I used to have a cordless mouse, whenever the battery got low things got a bit jumpy. Now using a Razor Diamondback which can adjust sensitivity using a button on the mouse... nice if you switch to lg and need to get better accuracy.

We thought that too. John, the first to report it when he was hosting the server uses a wired optical mouse. Not a fan of the stuff the company bought us to work with. I still have my Microsoft Wheele mouse, wired and no optix. And it still happens to me. I have hosted the game plenty of times before and never got this. A month or so of John complaining of the condition, I hosted one and got the same thing.

We have like machines, but different mice. Perhaps this one is starting to fail. I do beat it up pretty good when Im at the end of a good butt whooppin' ops:

I have had that also. It does not matter if it is invasion or a server or a mouse for me. It has happened to me at spawning time. I do not know if this is what you had, mine has always been spinning up and down. In the past, I have asked people and they say try to get it right side up with the mouse or do a ~reconnect and restart.

Happened to me too. I didn't have a mouse pad and figured it was the wood on my desk.

Once in a blue moon for me, probably been a few weeks since I have had it. Of course, it may just be that it is that infrequent given I have only managed to play perhaps an hour a night on average. But the weapon sticking on fire is definitely something I have seen about every other week, and more often a couple of weeks back. Probably the UDP packet for the fire release getting dropped on the floor someplace.

BTW...right along with the spin and such, I have another deal where like the spinning, the client does something I told it not to do. Occasionally get a deal where I end up switching weapon, and when it does, it is never like I just scrolled, but is a radically different one in the rotation loop. And no fingers near the keys to switch weapons. Battery was full on my mouse as well. It was much more frequent during the period with the spins and such, so I have to now wonder if it was not something outside of my machine.
