Those pictures are so cool. Windsurfing...I might have to try that one of these days. And your accent is awesome. I enjoy hearing what all of you people sound like and I definitely don't complain when you're hanging around. Your cars are pretty nice too. You need a good Pontiac, though.

BTW, nice comment, CPL.

Ok i feel i owe everybody my story. Im not going to describe my whole life, but i will describe the latest chapter in my life and why i came a regular on the DC server, so here goes...

My real name is Gerard, im 21 years old and i live in Canberra, Australia.
Ive been playint ut2004 since the first day it came out and began playing on the DC server around sep/oct 2004. This was also around the time i developed my anxiety problem. In november i completed my diploma in software development and graduated.
For the next few months i didnt do much at all, until march when i started university (continuing my programming studies). However, my anxiety problem had been steadily becoming worse over the months (I would constantly worry about uni and life in general), until i started uni which it then peaked. I couldnt take the anxiety anymore so i quit uni after just 4 weeks. At this point nobody knew i had an anxiety problem, so everybody thought i would start looking for a job. Then when i told my mum about it, she decided that it was best that i do not look for a job and take it easy to try and ease off the anxiety.
Unfortunately, things became worse and i began to dip into depression when the anxiety would hit. I would fall into depression from the anxiety attacks almost everyday, and at its worse, i would get slight suicidal urges. This then led me to see a doctor who put me on cipramil anti-depressants which i have to take once per day (and am still taking). Im also currently seeing a psychiatrist.
Though ironically the anxeity is the reason i became a regular on the DC server. During the time after i quit uni and did nothing but get depressed, i frequently played on the DC server as it helped get my mind off depression. At first, i didnt really talk to anybody as nobody really knew me, but as time went by, i grew quite fond of the people on the server and vice versa.

Now i am currently volunteering as a computer technician for a non-profit organisation that i do 2 days a week. I still get anxiety attacks and get struck by depression, but its not nearly as bad as before. Soon, if i manage to overcome my problem, i will start looking for a full-time job doing whatever, ill let time decide...

Yes, that is great that you are open about that macknife. It's great that you recognized what it was and went to somebody for help. Sounds like you have a great mother, too. I'm glad that you are able to find something that will take your mind off what's bothering you. Many here are willing to help out if you want. Hope you are doing better now and we'll be seeing you around.

I'm glad you're doing better! Its kinda interesting you played this game to get your mind away from certain things because I did the same thing back in March/April. It helped a lot. Like Pyro said, my AIM name is in the thread too. Message either of us if you need to and that goes for everyone else out there as well. I consider most of the regulars on here like my internet family and its even better getting to know a few of them in life.

Yes, I'm in a bit of a sentimental mood today.....

Thanks a heap pyro, cham and boingo. I really appreciate your support. Another big reason i became a regular was because of the fantastic community.

Hello Folks:

Miss Kitty?s informal Bio and recent Surgery Update. I have been meaning to add my bio to the forum. Last night I was playing on DC and Aqualung brought it up that I was sick. I have been very sick the last few weeks as I have chronic pain. Many of you gave me good wishes for my Bladder surgery that I had today, October 3, and you wanted an update. So now I will give a little Bio and my update at the same time.

4.50 Years ago I went off work with a painful bladder disease called Interstitial Cystitis and chronic migraines. Over the last 4 years my health got worst and so did the pain I could no longer go to the gym. Prior to this I was heavily into weight training and wanted to build up my body and enter Masters competition for naturally body. I was strong I could bench more than my weight and do many chin-ups. But I still have a six-pack so not all is lost.

I have 2 surgeries a year but took a break from it last year (had around 7 of them). Today?s surgery was done under a General like all of them. I had a Bladder Hydrodistention (fill bladder with fluid to make it bigger), Transurethral fulguration and resection of ulcers, dialiation of the urthera. Fulguration involves burning Hunner's ulcers using electricity or a laser. When the area heals, the dead tissue and the ulcer fall off, leaving new, healthy tissue behind. Resection involves cutting around and removing the ulcers. Both treatments, done under anesthesia, use special instruments inserted into the bladder through a cystoscope.

It was successful the doctor treated the ulcers and the pin point bleeding and pumped up my bladder to make it bigger and also had my urethra enlarged. This procedure created a lot of pain so I was heavily medicated with several types of pain med. This condition cannot be cured but it can go into remission. I also have chronic migraines, IBS and arthritis in neck. It took 2 years to get a diagnosis and I think it started in the early nineties I was always showing blood in the urine. This is NOT a bacterial infection and one must stay away from cranberry and acidic/spicy foods.

Interstitial cystitis is a chronic, and often severe, inflammation of the bladder wall, the cause of which is unknown. Primary symptoms are urinary frequency, urgency, and, for some, severe lower abdominal or perineal pain. Some ladies urinate anywhere from 30 100 times a day sometimes more

The reason I am sharing this with you is that many women/men do not know they have it and get treated for other conditions or are told it is all in your head. My male friend ended up being sterile for having the wrong operations. Men with IC symptoms are often misdiagnosed as prostatitis or bladder outlet obstruction (1) patients.

If you have any friends/ loved ones that have pain/soreness urgency/frequency in the bladder and are not getting any help and are frantic and feel they are not being heard. Please get an appointment with a Urologist. I was told it is only blood in the urine. Well blood is a symptom of some thing wrong.

Out of all our players there could be one with these issues or a family member or friend. Here is a great website that I use for help: http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/basics.html

Here is a little information about me.

My name is Yvonne and I turned 50 years young this year. I live in Vancouver Canada but was born in Northampton England. I am very youthful and like to have fun paying computer games. I actually played games on my TI99 back in the early eighties. I use to play a game called ?Tunnels of Doom?. After the nightclubs closed 3 friends would come to my place and we would play. We would make Bananas Flambé and have a few more cocktails. We all had weird names and my character was Spanky from the old Gang.

For the last 20 years I have worked in non-profit groups as Administrative Manager and Conference planner. I worked for an AIDS group, Environment Group and a the largest Parent Advisory Group in Canada (In the US they are called PTAs)

After I left work due to illness my pets got ill so I started making organic catnip toys and elf/wizard hats by hand to pay for vet bills. I found out I am very good at making crafts and like making them. I also started selling items on eBay like, old racing cars models, collectibles, pottery, antique books and old sewing supplies. I once sold a Lalique Car Mascot head for $416.00 and bought it for 1$. I have a knack for this and like it.

Kitty and Muggy both had Thyroid disease and then after radiation Kitty got kidney disease. During this time I rescued a cat called Felix and found out he had Feline AIDS. Kitty passed away 2 years ago after a brave fight with kidney disease. He did not die from Kidney disease he died from fluid on his lungs. Muggy has inflammatory bowel & kidney disease and Gall bladder flare-ups. Muggy had a gall bladder and biopsy surgery last year. Muggy ended up with a feeding tube for 2 months so I could give her medications. This was a lifesaver, Muggy never complained of tried to pull her tube out. She had to wear a little sweater and I made them very pretty. She is very hard to dose and was on 5 meds a day and it was easy to give. For the first 2 weeks she ate so I only gave her some food with the meds that needed food. The vet gave Muggy a carved wooden purple heart for bravery. Muggy never complained or suffered she just got more needy and she now seeks affection from anyone who visits.

Muggy is now stable with her liver enzymes in check and the kidney disease is stable. It is not getting bad enough to require treatment. She is a happy, loving, playful little cat and I am pleased that she is still with me.

I was selling on eBay to pay for the vet bills but got too sick to continue and started getting depressed. I started playing UT on the DC server and it lifted my spirits.

So if any of you need help on Cat illnesses or Interstitial Cystitis I will be happy to receive a private message from you.

Yvonne

wow! Thank you for sharing that with us. I have had some experience's that were not very fun as well. Like Wombat mentions in our story of 'what have you done for love' i have Endomitriosis. What the is, is basicly the stuff that causes cramps somehow leaks out in your body and causes extreamly painful cramps 24/7. I have had 4 surgeries for it, been on every type of treatment you can have for it, but like yours kitty, there isnt really a cure unless you get a hysterectimy. But even then it can transform into something else like it. I Have had it since i was 13 and went for about 4 years in and out of doc. offices and ER's tryign to find out what was wrong. "it's all in your head" they would say. Until i went in for a colonoscopy and the doc mentioned that he thought it could be Endomitriosis. So after more doc. appointments and such i went in for my first surgery (the only way to diagnose it) they diagnosed me with the most painful kind of endomitriosis. Then i took shots called Depo-Lupron which as wombat mentioned briefly that puts you into a temp. metopausal state for 6 months. they said i prob couldnt have children but alas, i was blessed with my daughter Aleya! I also have ovarian cysts once a month. I just had my last surgery on the 16th of last month, as some of you already know. Its kinda like what kitty has done, the go in through your belly button and above your pubic bone, insert tools and burn the endomitriosis away. Honestly the gas they fill your stomache with hurts more then the actual surgery! But like kitty said, if you have pain of anykind and it doesnt get better, please seek help, it took me 4 years to find out my 'problems' lol. Anyways, thanks again kitty for sharing that bit of yourself with us!

Wow, reading through this thread I've come to realize how young and naive I am. Everyone here seems to either have overcome extreme hardship and/or have great responsibility (eg. children). Compared to you all I'm a pathetic, whiny college kid. I bow down to you all.

(Me: 21, male persuasion, UC Berkeley student, studying Math and Biochemistry. Immigrated from Japan when I was much younger. I have absolutely no goals or plans in my life. Seriously, none. I day-dream of ditching my current life and wandering South America for a few years, until I 'find myself'. I am generally very unsociable and anti-social; I partly blame this on the fact that I didn't speak English until I entered high school or so, which made it very hard to make friends. These days I cook, eat, invent new and self-destructive alcoholic drinks, and play UT2k4; I am also dangerously addicted to programming computers.

Ya. So if you ever visit Berkeley and see a 6 foot tall Asian guy with a 3 inch goatee, thats me. I'll buy you a drink.)
