Greetings everyone,

A number of you have been contacted by a former player on our server named Skyline.

Some people say he's been unjustly banned. He certainly thinks so.

Normally we don't talk about this sort of thing in the forums, because, to be quite honest, it's not anyone else's business, and it is yet one more demand on our time that we would rather spend with our friends online. It is worthy to note that between Druid, myself, and the other admins, we have now spent over six hours just dealing with Skyline.

In this case, he's tried to put us on public trial, both in our forums, and with our players, so we are going to share some information in order to stop the negativity we are experiencing and allay the fear, uncertainty, and doubt that he has spread.

Skyline made a comment on our server which was both clearly derogatory, and directly offensive towards any of the group to whom this comment was made.

There was no mystery about it, and he wasn't banned for speaking his mind. He was banned for clear and direct violation of:

DC Rules wrote:

1) No derogatory remarks about race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, creed, denomination, etc...

We will not post what Skyline said here, because his remarks are in direct violation of our rules (and therefore not appropriate for the forums), and they are also negative enough that it is harmful to read them.

I will leave it at this: his comments were very derogatory and personally offensive to me.

We will not tolerate this sort of behavior in our home, on our forums, or in our community.

In spite of this, we offered him the chance to resolve his actions by following our ban appeal process. As far as we can tell, he refused to even do so much as look up why his actions might have been derogatory.

If, after reading the entirety of this post, you personally feel that he was banned unjustly, we will make an exception to our usual rule of not discussing the specific content of his banning. If you question whether or not we were right in banning him, then you may email the admin address, and I will provide you with the information from our chat log. We are making this exception only because Skyline has gone out of his way to do harm to us personally as well as this community by encouraging fear, uncertainty, and doubt, and we want to ensure that this ceases.

We run this server proudly, and we believe that we create a positive atmosphere.

Skyline has received our do not use our services further and do not contact us again email for his current set of actions.

We encourage each of you to delete his private message, and please be respectful of us and the DC community by allowing his act of negativity to end with this post.

I'm sorry to read this, Shan and Dru. Please know that the majority of us are very appreciative of all the resources you spend on maintaining this server. Thanks.

If Skyline is not willing to face up to what he said was wrong and/or make things right for you and Dru, then no way. I don't particularly care to know what he said and am not gonna want to see the chat log. As you have put it so plainly, it is none of our business. Most all of us players support you and Dru and ALL of us have agreed to the rules of conduct posted, otherwise we could not play. MY SUPPORT IS WITH YOU, PERIOD.

I could have a lot to say on this issue - more than you know. And I know most of us greatly appreciate the time and effort Dru and Shan put into this server (it cheers me up when I see them come on and play - particularly if they get the chance to just play and not answer admin questions or do any other "work"). But I've gotten the feeling over the last couple of days, particularly with responses to this post being removed regularly, that they would rather this topic, and thread, die a quick death.

Now this is by no means an "admin" order, and I'm not trying to "tell" anyone what to do - but if you want to respond to this thread, you might want to reconsider doing so, and just let the thread die.

We'll keep positive posts that stick to the topic of this thread around. If you want to ask any questions about this though, you must contact the admin address.

This message will self destruct in 10 seconds.

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.
