So is there anyone doing anything special for the 4th? I'll be in the adirondacks from tomorrow till wednesday with a bunch of friends, good times, fireworks, and campfires. I can't wait, but just wondered what everyone else is planning...

Hey Pyra, where abouts? I may be heading for the Wells-Northville-Speculator area. (Tip of the Sacandaga Lake north about 30-40 miles.)

We don't have anything planned as of yet...maybe going to see some fireworks but that's probably about it. Hope you have a good time though!

Gonna celebrate my wife's 50th birthday on the 3rd, and watch what is one of the largest 4th of July fireworks displays around. Remember it was mentioned about how Thunder over Louisville was the largest annual fireworks displays in the nation. Well... Red, White and Boom is #2, and is held on for the 4th (but is almost always held on the 3rd), unlike the former, which is held Derby weekend.. We average somewhere between 500K and 600K each year, and IIRC, last year, we broke records and may have been at 800K+, it being RWB 25.. The "official" page for the event is http://www.nbc4i.com/redwhiteandboom/index.html. Unfortunately, they do not have things like attendence counts listed. But they do point towards streaming media for the event.

Other than that, we are going to go have a pic-a-nic in a park with Mr. Ranger on the 4th Boo Boo.

But Yogi, Mr. Ranger does not like it when we have a picnic...

Steelace and I finished the fifth annual Ranchblast at our place last weekend. Good party good fireworks. When we get the video rendered I will post a couple of clips with some of our more unique stuff and some of the finale. We did a section to music this year which was pretty cool. Now we are just roaming around with our HD camcorder filming different shoots for new ideas and research. Thanks for the link Spacey, I would love to check that show out unfortunately the fourth of July weekend is my busiest weekend of the year.

good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun.

We have a cabin about 10 minutes from Tupper Lake, but it's located in between Eagle Crag Lake/Mount Arab Lake. It's absolutely gorgeous up there and the weather was fantastic. If you don't know of tupper lake(kind of small), it's only about 40 minutes from Syranac and Lake Placid...

Yep, I know it. I actually used to live a little south of Placid in Moriah/Port Henery. (During the olympics up there, my dad had the exclusive rights as Proctor and Gambles Rep/Salesperson for the entire olympic supply train! It was cool, we got to meet all of the usa teams that were there.)

Wow that's awesome Em, I've been there a bunch of times, it's just too bad I wasn't around yet for the Placid olympics... hopefully they'll come back there again soon!

Yup, the cool thing was that one of my teachers this year was actually there for each game as the teams medic, since he was a medic in the air force. He explained how heated the rivalry was between the US and the Soviet-Union at the game, it was awesome to see his pictures from the front row... being a designated medic gave him pretty much complete freedom to explore and talk to the players, can't imagine it...
