Has anyone been successful creating a monter-centric character? By monster-centric, I mean your monster does the bulk of the killing/experience earning. If so, I have questions:
a) What level monster intelligence/health do you think is enough?
b) Is it imperative you get a warlord, or are lesser monsters viable? (Taking into account lesser monsters cost less monster points.)

Both questions can be answered logically.
The smarter the monster, the more reactive it will be. Better dodging, targeting etc. come with higher brain power. Depends on when you want to start working on the monsters. I am working on my medic side only. Maxing out all healing abilities and things like weapons reduction, weapons speed etc. Then I will work on the smart critters.
Monster size matters. One super smart Warlord can do some serious damage as to a super smart nali. When I get started on the critters, I wont try to start until I can surpass the gasbags. All monsters equal to or lower than that are a pain in the butt.

clearly, higher intelligence is always a good thing and should be maxed at higher levels. But is there a specific level of at which your pets become self sufficient enough at later waves? Do a nali and a warlord work better together than a warlord and a gasbag? Other tips and hints extremely welcomed..

I wouldn't summon a Nali. They can be killed quite quickly by other players, so it's just a waste of adrenalin.
Question:
At any point does your summoned monster take on your weapon speed or other characteristics you've bought?

Damage Bonus and Damage Reduction are confirmed. I'm 90% sure that Health Bonus goes with that as well. Weapon speed is a NO.
Pets used to take on some of the skills like regen and vamp but since M/MMs can't have those that is out.

You can get regen as a monster master/medic.
