I've been playing a Medic/Monster Master for a few months now, and find the best way to heal is by using the mini. The problem is that the server has Weapon Shake View enabled causing great strain on my eyes, as I try to watch peeps health numbers rise as they vibrate. If you play an Instant Action game, you will find this setting in the Game Rules tab under Rules next to Allow Translocator and Allow Taunts. If you only use the mini every now and then you wont feel this strain, Just wondering who else has had this happen.

I just listen. There is a light tingy sound when someone is taking on health. They glow blue until they reach their maximum health level, then it is just the tingy audible until they reach their maximum +. When they are completely full you will no longer hear the tingy sound. It is a pain to try and read their health number.

good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun.

I hate the chattering teath-o-death with the mini, which is one of the reasons I don't use it much.

I wouldn't say I use the mini A LOT, but I still have no idea what you guys are talking about. For me, you have to use a self-healing weapon as a medic, unless there are numerous medics online.

I really like the mini as a healing weapon when I use my medic. The main reason is that it's hard to stand still for healing from a splash damage gun when being pummeled by monsters. It's easier to hit peeps on the fly with the mini.

And, Ooo has a point with regard to the weapon shake. After about an hour or so, my eyes start to get teary and it makes me tired so I switch players.

I consider myself to be a strong and aggressive player, wether the class be WM, AM or MMM. I always search out the quickest way to kill and gain xp, to enable me to lvl through my class as fast as possible. As Chyster says

After playing MMM for a few months now, I have found that healing peeps with the Mini and keeping the RL to get myself out of a fix when I am low on health, is the best weapon combo. Whenever I change a weapon into a Medic Healing Weapon I always make sure to pickup that same weapon that you lose. The problem is not just that peeps health counter shakes, its that the whole screen and everything in it shakes. Its like looking through binoculars while sitting on a washing machine on spin dry.

Maybe we could have a vote as to who likes or dislikes the Weapon Shake View . Then maybe Dru would do a 180 or even a 360, if enough Contributors vote.

Hmm... my opinion isn't too strong on this as I'm not a medic, but I'll point one thing out. Mini 5 + triple is STUPID POWERFUL. I'm serious. I play with the mini a lot with my artifacts char because I can hang back a bit more than with the flak. I only have 20% DB right now and it's like a chainsaw. This will be the wep that people complain about after flak 5 is gone. No self damage, spray and pray, etc.

So, that said, if you ditch the shake, it makes the mini even more powerful. What would be ideal, I think, is if the MEDIC mini didn't have the shake but all others retained it. Since the weapons, as I understand it, are unique objects, I imagine this is possible, but I'm no programmer...

How would ditching the shake make the mini even more powerful?

I finally get what you mean know.

If you use secondary fire (slower one) you get none of the shaking, it would be somewhat unfair to allow the rapid fire to have no shaking. But, since you're only advocating getting rid of it on medic weapons, I don't think it is a bad idea at all.

Joe, it makes it more powerful because you will be able to aim better, use it more often, and therefore inflict more damage.

Im not sure if ditching the visual shake makes the mini's primary fire more accurate. It think that it is just that......a visual effect for all weapons.

The accuracy would be built into the weapon mod code, would it not?

Dunno, asking.

I personally find that the weapon shake doesn't affect my ability to hold the crosshairs on a person or monster very much at all. I guess my eyes focus on the big picture and not the little vibrations the game intends for me to focus on.

But when it comes to hitting flying beasties that are zooming all over the place I tend to go to secondary because its more accurate at distances than primary.

Imagine if the flak cannon had a realistic recoil effect that shook the screen when fired.

Chyster, I don't mean the accuracy of the mini itself, but the player's accuracy.

Vortex, don't be so sure. Imagine if the screen shook like with the mini but ALL the time, whether firing or not. You've adapted to the shake gradually and don't think it affects your gameplay but try putting your monitor on top of the laundry machine when it's on spin cycle and playing with all the other weapons...

Try secondary fire for healing, it should be just as effective. and the shake shouldnt be a factor.

My personal style favors the RL for healing, I generaly get up close, dodging the enemy(s) shots and catch both the monster and myself in the RL blast, Hurting them (him) and healing me at the same time. RL has the added bonus of being able to lock onto targets that are far away for a triple shot.

The mini actualy saws through bad guys faster, but I can't heal myself, and I almost always need healing.

I am trying out SR off and on as well, it heals others wicked fast, but I am just not as effective in combat with it.

For those of you who say that healers shouldent be in combat, or that their healing weapon shouldent be able to damage enemys
Keep an open mind for a molment and listen: There are no safe places on
maps, if the monsters can't get there, then the camping mod will kick in and re-spawn you. Other players don't protect healers very much. Monsters that you summon are not nearly good enough to protect you, they either take off chasing something or they cant keep up with you.
So if we are not supposed to be in combat, we can either die, or try to run alot. If our healing weapons dont damage bad guys, how are we supposed to have enough ammo to kill things? Maybe im just too low a level character to "get it" please enlighten me if I am wrong, but I have a Lvl 28 healer and I have been able to pull it through 1 or 2 times when I was the last one left on one of the difficult levels (thank you RL of healing) but Im pretty sure that I wont be able to do that when I get to higher level.

sorry I hyjacked the the thread.
