My mouse fell apart :(

I heard a rattling inside my Logitech Mx510 mouse and, since it was out of warranty, I opened it up. Turns out the stiff wire that causes the mouse wheel to click as it turns fell off. Now my mouse still works fine except the wheel turns smoothly w/o the clicks.

I use the wheel to select weapons in game and a free moving wheel causes my weapons to change every time my finger slightly touches the wheel. Can anyone point me to a website which would direct me to how that wire attaches to the mouse? I just cant figure it out.

So wait, does it still scroll, just without the clicks?

Yes, no clicks. I use the wheel to select weapons, and without the clicks it tends to move too easily and changes them erratically.

Brother, I feel your pain. My virtual keypad broke mid game awhile back. I was actually glad it did, 'cause I got a better one.

Never opened a mouse befoe until today, because my own intellimouse decided to die yesterday, had to run to buy another one and got the logitech 518, like it, but feels a bit small for my hand.

The "detents" that make the mouse click are very delicate, it can be a small wire or can be a tiny piece of plastic wheer the wheel bumps, you're safer if you get another mouse instead and carry on an autopsy of this one for cleaning your new one.
