LOL I've heard of that.

Not to threadjakck, but if you want to cut down on spam, set up a junk mail account.

Use that second account whenever you're required to give an email address. If you sign up for a forum, enter some dumb sweepstakes, sign up for a rebate, purchase something online, etc. All the junk mail will go to your junk mail account and leave your "business" account clean.

If you're already getting a ton of junkmail, well, this won't help much but it will help prevent the problem from getting worse.

Personally, I recommend softhome for a free account. (www.softhome.net). The reason is because if you set up an account elsewhere, sometimes they require you to enter your primary account as confirmation. Then they sell that address to third parties. Softhome hasn't sold my primary account (that I know of). Softhome also has a minimal interface with fewer ads than most sites and they don't spam new accounts. I set up a yahoo account but never used it. I checked on it about three months later and it was loaded with junk mail - meaning yahoo immediately sold it or spammed me directly.

That's hilarious!

I'm not sure we could get away with that in the UK but it'd be interesting to find out what the rules are over here!

What really takes the biscuit in the world of spam, more so that snail mail or email spam is receiving spam faxes. What makes this worse is that the spammer makes the receiver of their un-solicited mail-shots pay for their printing costs! How cheeky this that!

Good point Devil. The best way I have found to prevent that is to set up your fax to pick up after the 8th ring. Usually the autodialers only let it ring between 4-6 times. It took them 2 years to find Steelaces fax having it set up like that. Luckily they have not found mine yet.

good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun.

I've got a credit card offer and an empty box. All I need now is something heavy and for someone to stop me.
