Happy birthday! Don't forget to regularly check the level of your blinker fluid!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO what a ride!"

Was he at 40 mph and she at a dead stop??!! I sure hope she got x-rays and is checking in with a doctor weekly, if so. A former girlfriend of mine got in a wreck like that, thought she was okay and a month later was in so much pain she was bed-ridden for about three months straight. Her neck and back were so permanently messed up she had an operation to remove some of her... uh ... chest. The weight was causing too much strain. She was a triathlete and aerobics instructor and it totally sidewalled all her fitness activities for 2+ years.

Very good chance of neck injury in those accidents that may not show for up to several weeks. It's not being sue-happy to get checked out thoroughly, you just don't take chances with those types of accidents ever.

Shes taking MRI and kat scans and all that next week

Also last week some guy hit my mom's car at 40mph.... Didnt even stop... Right into the back of it.. Thankfully she wasnt hurt

Exact same thing happened to my mom about two months ago. She stopped at a light and this kid (going about 40 I think she said) hit her in the back. Her back hurt somewhat afterwards and now she's in a little bit of physical therapy But she's alright for the most part. I just started driving about three months ago and I can see where a lot of people screw up. I also notice like 10x more cop cars than I did before

Happy birthday, and congratulations.

I live in a small town in Alaska. My father taught me to drive on frozen lakes in the winter because there is nothing to hit and it is easy to lose control. It was a pretty good idea because it scared me bad! Our public transport system is pretty good for a small town (population wise) so I did not get my lisence until I was 24 and started needing to take the kids to day care. I got my motorcycle endorsement the same year (much to my mothers horror).

I have never been involved in an accident where my vehicle was moving, but have had a couple people "bump" me when I was stopped.

I was in a "close call" a few years back when I was driving a loaded company box van in the winter and this old guy tried to commit suicide by jumping in front of me on icy roads. He walked into the road about 10 feet in front of me when I was doing 35. There was a police officer on a side road that saw the whole thing, he said that the driving wa impressive, but honestly I don't remember what I did to avoid hitting him.

uhhhh, I kind of got off topic, sorry.

happy birthday!

Dip, we just care, thus the horror stories
