Probably both. Sections on network designs (physical and logical) and best management and security practices.

I'm near the end of the first module of 2274 in the e-learning course and will be starting 2275 (both of these together make up 2273) I'm shooting for an Oct 5th test date, but the sheer volume of info in this course, I may take 3 weeks of studying and take the test on the 9th. We shall see how I feel at the end of the next module.

Monkey's Log: Star Date 200910-7

Been studying for almost 3 weeks (9 - 4 almost every day). My test is scheduled on Monday the 12th. I'm nervous, but not as much as have been in the past. Am I getting used to tests again? Is the subject matter coming to me more easily? Is it that I passed 3 practice tests today (something I have never done)? Maybe it's D) all of the above.

All I know is my wife and I's future depends on me passing each of these tests and landing a descent job.

Funny thing tho, I seem to be finding myself drifting off in thought about network infrastructure, security practices and what it would be like to be in this role. Wife has to bring me back to the here and now sometimes when she is talking to me (insert your favorite bing commercial here)

I dont think I'm going to take a break from studying until then, gotta keep it fresh in my mind. And I have to pick up the lucky 5 hour energy shot for just prior to the test time...it worked for the others so no need to break the streak now.

Sadly, I crashed and burned.

Needed a 700 to pass and I got a 670. With only 40 questions, I would guess I was only 1 or 2 away from a passing grade. I was devastated. I felt confident going in and right off the bat they started testing me on stuff that wasn't covered in the book or the online. My instructor warned us to be fully prepared to fail this test the first time around. I guess I shouldt be surprised, but it still hurt, a lot. It was brutal in areas. So next time I take it, I guess all I can do is hope I get more questions on items I know about.
I have another voucher to take this agian, but its the voucher for the 291 test. If I pass all my tests from here on out, I will still be one voucher short. @ $125 a test...I dont know how I will pull it off. May have to sell something or stop paying the non essential bills.

I'm sorry. Now that you know what is covered on the test, study those portions again and refresh yourself on the rest. Do not hesitate and wait till later. Re-take the test within the next week or so.

I'm planning on it. At least they tell me the areas I'm weak in, but not the actual questions I got wrong (naw, that would be too helpful) So I'm taking the weekend off as today is a day off mourning and tomorrow is the wife's birthday so I cant ignore her all day to study.

might worth nothing to you, might worth.. but i have faith in you, i KNOW you can pass your test..

mmm i dont know if this helps, but remember :

read the questions first

answer those that are easy one first (if you dont do that, you brain will panic, with those tricky answers and probably will fail with the easy ones)

eat sugar (chocolate if you can, trust me endorphins, help you to relax, and the sugar wake you up)

and the most important one, sleep well every night now and then.. scientist KNOW you learn while you sleep.. so trust me

might help tell you my little secret, i dont learn everything, actually i learn probably i dont know 80%? (the most important 80%) but i learn it really good, so whenever i face a test i get (in a really bad day ( when i say bad is bad)) 75% (hey boy, im not perfect i can miss some answers), the 20% left i do read it few times, get used to the material, and know what is it about, i get few "anchors" ( words that i must learn and those words remind me the whole concept)

now in an average day i get 90% of the test, and thats really good since i dont have much time to study..

( i have my own company (a bookstore) and hell boy i dont have the time to do everythig) thats why i came with that method to learn things..)

Well, I studied for another 2 weeks. It got a little boring going over the same old junk that I went through 3 times already. Failing the first time really shattered my confidence. But, I had to research things that I could remember from my first test and see if I can prevent it from happening again the next time. Well, It helped on 1 or 2 questions. But hey, that was enough. I got a 737. I passed.

It was just as much of a brute as the first time around. I musta guessed correctly on a few things. Well, I can breath a bit easier for a little bit now. Need to start studying for 70-291 now. I bought a book that was recommended to me, Mastering Windows Server 2003. hope it helps me with the next class, cuz the MOC book and the e-learning dont really do a well enough job to give you all the information you need to study for these test. MS should be spanked.

Well, 3 weeks behind in studying for 70-291 with my internet issues. I think its a thermal issue outside as when it's cold, it works. If it's going to be a warm sunny day, between 9 -10am is when it starts going out and it doesnt get better 'till evening sometime. Its been cold these past few days and it's been working, but now I'm in class ( 2278 ) which helps supliment the exam 70-291 so i dont feel that bad for not being able to study these past few weeks. This is day 2 and it should be done tomarrow. Then the holiday, which isnt going to be for us, so, back to studying.
This class is all about planning, designing and troubleshooting the layout of a network.

Here it is, January and I'm still not done with school. I was supposed to be done at the beginning of November. How things change.
Anywho... I have my next test next week on the 13th. The ambiance that surrounds this test has got me freaked out. I hope I pass the first time. If so, I have the next test to take right after that, maybe a week out, as they overlap quite a bit.
Got 2 more classes left, Active Directory and Designing Secure Networks.
After I pass this test next week (crossing fingers) I will have my MCSA. I don't wanna say that it's all down hill from there, but my last test and this one are the 2 hardest tests in the series...so, maybe the last part will go faster that it has these past few months.

I didn't post this last week, cuz I was really in the dumps. My latest test, 70-291 was last Thursday. I missed passing by 2 questions. So close yet so far away. So I studied some more at school for the last 3 days and took it again today. It was harder the second time. I was so stressed, but I followed my instructors advice and not to change any questions once I answered them..go with first gut reaction. Well.....IT WORKED! I passed with a 764. I now get to hold this label:

No time to rest, Planning and Maintaining a MS server test is next week. Studying resumes tomorrow. Having 1st beers in 3 moths to celebrate today.
