Another way to avoid ground pounce is to get nulled.
(I was playing around with the null warlords once, and made a wave full of them. I could take alot of damage, but found myself stuck in mid-air for a long time)
 


Skaarj for one. Their shots shoot you backward when your hit by them.
BTW I still love the electromagnet for times when I just wanna have fun with my adrenaline instead of other primary uses. My Fav's so far is fighting from the ceiling instead of the floor for a long while. Takes some getting use to the view changes but still fun seeing shots coming up at you.

Any1 ever try a MOD ported from another game I'm sure..
It was a gravity or black hole weapon. Shot a black orb into a room and it slowly sucked everything within a certain radius with lots of swirling and lightning and maybe yourself if your too close.

I played with that on another server years ago and thought it was awesome.

I'm sure someone knows what I'm talking about and which game it was ported from. Was as entertaining to watch as a bug zapper. >

My current skin After several other skins, I have reverted back to Bender.

It is called the Gravity Vortex from Chaos UT2 Evolution. Love that mod. I believe I still have it.

I don't recognize it being ported over from another game, but the gravity vortex sounds exactly like what you are talking about.

BTW. I see that you tried to type in the devil looking smiley. Unfortuneately it just comes up like the normal smiley with the eyebrows at the beginning. Maybe the server isnt the only thing that needs an update.

I only presumed it was ported cuz I never seen it anywhere else and I dont play every game out there. Yes I believe your correct on the name. I would give up my painter for that one...

when i first began playing ut2004,i played on a sever where the shock rifles alt fire ,was a black hole ,what it did was just vacume suck monster to it, it was quite fun,also they did it with the ion painter.

on dm i remember when someone sucked us up into one spot useing the vortex and nuked the vortex.sadly thoe i was 1 of the casualties but it was fun

Same here, I would love to trade a deemer, painter, and the ons painter combined for that vortex. The hole is supposed to last for I think 10 seconds, sucking up any enemy or even projectile nearby. I just have a feeling that if this weapon gets on the server (but probably never will) it will suck up all the blocks. Next thing ya know your block is like a mile away from where you built it!

Writing this post gave me an idea to edit it. A sentinel that fires a similar vortex. Doesnt last as long, not as powerful, has a very long delay until it fires again.

yeah, overkill is something we need to stray away from,

try to keep in mind folks, while thinking of these new ideas,that anything like the vortex will never be on this server,unless it acts as a lightning rod with minimal dmg.

with that said i made a DC DREAM FORUM post, so yall can post the ideas you know wont make it, so the more realistic ideas can get some real discussion.

not to take away from anyones ideas.,but cmon guys,vortexes,,link turrets,leviathins,tanks,. none of them will fly due to the simple fact theyre just to devastateing,so any idea along those lines is almost a instant no! lol and trust me in this forum youll find a ton of posts from me, just ideas, most of them shot down with a quickness lol

KEEP up the awsome ideas. HOOOOOORAH!

KEEP IN MIND THESE WERE TRIED ,AND TESTED,WITH THE CURRENT ENGINEER SET UP, MEANING THESE WERE ALL USED WITH SPECIFIC TIMERS AND REQUIREMENTS ALREADY IN PLACE WITH HOW THE ENGI WORKS. New Walls
These Walls Are Very Effective,the DC wall is for kicks,

Hall-12 blocks,Two rows of walls,6 blocks on each side,stack of 3

High V Wall-14 blocks,Two high walls V positioned

Wide Wall-14-15 blocks,Two high walls side by side

DC Wall- 15 blocks,spells DC standing or laying down


New Turrets
Everyone seems to want a turret, so lets mix them up a bit and give the folks a slightly bigger selection of Non Exploitable Turrets,i tested each one of these,and now my engi turrets will never be the same bah.lol

Avril turret-Avril missles<same as avril speed,dmg wise>

Water Turret-once i slowed it and stop the alt/linking it was slightly better then the ball,link turret<blue Plasma> unlinkable no alt fire ,40/0.35

Flak Turret-this was fun once i slowed alt fire down lol,

Palidan Turret- was awsome once i made it 35/0.20

50.CAL Turret-used the tank cannon at 50/0.62

Ion Tank turret-this was shockingly fun when i made it 22/.030

ALL Secondary Levathin turrets- fine the way they were,was a awsome change,

Sentinals
these 3 were fun,they didnt overkill or under kill,and was a nice diffrent offense to have

bio sentinal-worked well kinda like mortar fire lol.

Mini Sents.2 smaller sentinals, that do half the damage of a normal sentinal.was pretty cool once i lowerd the dmg,

ball sentinal- did slightly more dmg then the normal sent but at a slower rate ,paird quite nicely with other engi sents.

Vehicles
Monster Truck Jeep-bigger wheels,lower health, a short awsome ride.

Monster Truck Scorpion Same as above,but with death blades,

Flak Scorpian-Was like a ut3 vehicle was so much better then the normal scorp.

Battle Bikes-Lmao I had Fun on that man,gotta get those into the game for pure fun factor please!

thats all i got to test so far...
,everything ran the way it was suppose to <shrugs> all i did was tweak some fire rates and projectiles,,and just added them to the line up,without adding extra lvls,all norma restrictions were in place,

Mystic, I am interested. How did you get these different turrets into the game for testing purposes?
You said in the game you got a friend to add entries to the ini file, but I wouldn't have thought it would work just adding things in the LoadedEngineer section of the UT2004RPG.ini file.
Was there some other turret mod you loaded and then configured for different weapon types?

Just curious - it may help speeding up my testing.

There is scope for a larger wall to instantly block off a large entrance. Is the Wide Wall the one we want? The high wall has a one block gap in it, so this would have two gaps at the ideal shooting height.
I am not convinced about the High V Wall - not many places would require a wall that tall.

They are all ok, and would give diversity. I am not sure how many we need, or what damage/points to put them to give a decent range of options.

I am not sure an avril turret or flak turret will be on, but I might need to try them to check. The goliath cannon is too powerful, but nerfing it wouldn't feel right. Would have to try it to see, but people didn't want the goliath nerfed down. The Paladin gives lag - is that due to the Paladin or the gun? But might make a nice turret. The Ion Tank turret again probably too powerful in its native form and wouldn't feel right nerfed. Not really sure what the water turret is. So that leaves the secondary leviathan turrets. Apart from being green, I am not sure what benefits the fire has over the ball turret?

The other one I am thinking of is the hellbender side turret. Or even the rear turret?

As an aside, I think I have ruled out having homing missiles from turrets due to the comment someone made about toggling the fire button and walking away. It was said in jest, but it would only be a matter of time.

Sorry, personally not really convinced, although the mortar could be fun unless the ceiling was low.

Haven't tried them yet. The battle bikes could be good tho.

i asked my friend about the turrets and he said he just changed the weapon fire ,the turrets were the same. mini,energy,ball, the turrets all looked the same as the orginal 3 but they shot diffrent projectiles,
he changed the color of the turrets for me so i would know which is which,

he<Josh> downloaded a vehicle mod to see how they did the codes and stuff,then he just went to town,lol -it took him a few hrs, so im sure it wasnt too easy for him.

As far as the blocks and walls go.. any new wall designes would rule,
any new block shapes would rule..as long as the walls/blocks prevent playeer deaths,rather then causeing them,, with that said ,,TETRIS STYLE BLOCKS. the most simple way to expand the block options,without makeing giant walls,i 200 pct think tetris style blocks is the way to go,.,,

vehicles, its the palidan's size causeing the lag,when you spawn the palidan the whole server lags. its just too big for the small maps.id remove the palidan and put in the bike and flak scorp,,<a small fun vehicle> even thoe the palidan is fun..its creating more trouble then its worth. the blast is fine lag wise,but the size of the palidan is too much.

ok i think every class should get a certain sentinalor something special to build..,why? i see alot of people playing the engi just to build or to have a sent.that sucks sometimes..5 engis no medic no la no weapon master,,,, so what if we gave the remaining classes a special sent according to there class? itll promote more variety of classes playing,and it will overall boost team work, or...

ALTERNATE ROUTE

ok here is the idea..,
these WONT take away from the engineer,,or any class,this is to promote more diveristy in class playing,it involves minor codeing but nothing huge,,im sure you will agree,.

Weapon Master- builds weapon locker of the weapon held.1 locker at a time<instead of tossing it out everywave,just go to the locker,AND OR. 1 Artifact,Abiltiy to change negatives to positives.why? junkys dont want to nor can they always max for you,.so lets take the strain off alittle and give the weapon master the ability to Remote MAX

Medic-builds 7 blocks AND OR 1 lightning sent thats very low dmg..Medics seem to have great close range combat,but suck long range a low dmg lightning sent would be great for them,and the blocks would compliment there medic class. when i think medic i think safe when i think block i think safe,,

Loaded Artifact- builds 1 Defense sent AND OR turret OR vehicle.why? junkies are squishy untill you get enough adreneline to use the invinc orb.the turret would greatly help the low lvls.so more la's would play.and who doesnt want a battle bike lol,

none of these upgrades take away anything from any class,but they give each class upgrades for todays players,
the engineer are still masters of the builders
the medics are still masters of medicines
the weapon masters are still the master of arms
the Junkys are still the masters of magics
i think its worth a try,it just seems everyones is seeking something more,,nothing huge,but a small something.

mm sounds good however with loaded weapons 5 is pointles..well not pointles but close

I like the idea. alot of times even a mid level junkie wont even bother maxing because he would rather use a rod. meanwhile WMs have all this adren that most of the time they wont give up because they don't care... let them use some of it to remote max... but not SELF max... let them have to work together since they are a (as a whole) selfish class

How about offering these new stuff to a new ability.

Advanced Loaded Engineer

For each level of this ability you learn a new vehicle/turret/sentinel/building to construct. You can only purchase this ability every 5 levels. You must be an engineer and be at least level 100 to purchase this ability.

Maybe an advaned loaded weapons/artifacts/monsters might be useful.
