Seems to me that doubling the score of a WM that is 1/3 your level is reasonable. But fighting for a top 3 spot against a Lvl 44 Engineer might seems disproportionate to some. (no offense Dragon you played really well and gave lots of team support.)
BTW, didn't miss much with the new changes, bolt didn't fire once for me but i managed to live. I did use the rod a bit more then i have been, but I think that this also helps team play, by knocking down the monster for other to kill with less shots. I also found myself ghosting more than usual. Think i died at least 2 or 3 times.
Thanks for posting that Ratar. Let's keep an eye on how it goes. I deliberately didn't touch the rod, because as you said, it helps others as well as yourself.
Looks like we might also need to keep an eye on these level 44 engineers tho Perhaps nerfing Dracos is what's required after all? Was it mainly sentinel kills or mainly link gun?

Thank you very much Szlat and Dru both. You've brought AM's back into line.

lvl 41 because its very difficult to play an AM.
There was a time before ghost and regen for newbs. Some of us leveled our characters back in that primeval age. It really is possible to do it without from lvl 6, doing it without from 41 is a cakewalk.

It's disgusting to see the changes that were made. I score higher now with my wep master that is about 40 lvl's lower than my AM. Pathetic.
And I frequently score ~800 points higher on my engi than my WM that is over double my engi's level. Its not pathetic, its incorrect playstyle, template, and map.

Thats the funny part. The junkie balance made it so the AM class requires skill again. There was a time before bolt and beam, a time when truely great junkies walked the earth. Go talk to Electrician and Jack. Extremely skilled players AND they knew how to play a junkie before beam/bolt were dreamt up.
Micron wrote:
Well you have definitely fixed the problem, and at this rate there will only be yourselves to play with, and you wont have to sorry about skilled players.
This is Micron, over and out. Been fun playing with you all, had a blast. But its time to move on from this server, been playing here far to long anyways, maybe its time to grow up.
Well then, if you wish to insult almost the entire community because they no longer let you use godmode, thats your business. I just recomend bringing some of this to your new server:

HEYYY!!!
Since I dont have any sents besides defensive at 44. It was mostly alt-fire with the link. I usually just charge right up to a monster and run right through him .
Whats next me scoring 1k plus on my 37 medic, oh wait..... (<-went to the medic school of the mini )

Hahaha now thats funny...Go talk to Electrician and Jack. Extremely skilled players AND they knew how to play a junkie before beam/bolt were dreamt up.
As a matter of fact electirican has regen which is an exploit and one other thing i learned the triple and bolt just from watching jack so dont act as they are innocent just cuz youve never seen them play a few months ago... Too funny already exalting people you dont even know, they did these exploits themselves and they were some of the first ones.

I bought regen before there were classes. To my knowledge, that isn't an exploit. Not to mention, it's only level one regen. Not very useful. It would take several minutes for me to get back to full health...with monsters on my tail, I'd be long dead before then....and most times I am. I wouldn't miss it a bit.
I don't know enough about coding or any of that stuff to create any exploits for myself. I wouldn't even if I did. Cheating isn't part of my game.
BTW, I stopped using bolt, rod, and beam altogether the other day....the two matches I've played since then I've scored just under 2500 in each with just the triple and a globe.
I get the impression that you feel some of the negative comments in this thread have been directed at you. If you think that the recent changes will severely hamper your playing style, then just do what we all have done over the years when changes occur....adapt your playing style.
If it makes you feel any better, know that I don't even have awareness. Furthermore, I have no intentions of buying it. Why? don't need it. Awareness has always seemed like a rather useless skill to me. I think it would just distract me.
As I said before, play whatever class you are however you want to. I'll play how I play, and have fun doing it. Hopefully that helps us win some matches and lets everyone else have fun too.

Amen bro, cutting/dicing/chopping veggies and fruits are one thing, players another--enough sniping. Griping about player styles and " exploits" are counter-productive and generates un-welcome feelings in the game.
As I said before, some players do take the game way too serious and treat it as a life or death matter. Not me.

After reading the whole thread and getting points of view out from each and everyone up until the last two posts, I thought that maybe I shouldn't comment, because I didn't want to stir up anything. However, I don't think, or hope that this will stir up anything, and I am trying to be more active on the forums. So here goes.
I will say now, that I have never played as a AM so this POV comes from the outside looking in. As I have played, I have noticed at times that being around those that use the combo trip/bolt... or whatever that I didn't like being around those people because I didn't have a chance to do some work myself. This irritant was few and far between however, and I have come to realize that the AM, is one of skill.
Sometimes I am observent as to who is the one still alive at the end of a wave, and low and behold it is an AM, I am slightly irritated until I watch this person play, and I realize why this person survived. I also need to realize that other classes are the last to survive, including me a low level WM. Am I overpowered, more skilled or just plain lucky? More likely then not it is the latter mixed with the second. This is when I realize, that we are all people, with different playing styles and different reactions to different situations (i.e. what do you do when a monster spawns 2ft behind you and you don't realize it until you turn around quickly)
So I say, before I lay me down to sleep, that sure, maybe a level 44 engineer beat a level 100+ other class, does that mean that the engineer needs to be nerfed or should we look inside ourselves and realize that the player is skilled, (s)he deserves that score. Has anyone realized that different people score differently with different classes no matter what the level? This is a RPG, strategy is at its core, fit your skill points where you think that it should go, play your best, and enjoy your self and be with the friends you play with.
Also, I want to mention that some classes don't get as high as score as others. This is not because one class is nerfed where another is overpowered, it is because of the play style: the medics heal, they may not get a score for it, but they get xp just the same; and the same is true for the engineers, some may focus mostly on doing thier job in the RPG field which is building a base for the other players, creating safety for the other players as well as helping thier shields. And some may or may not play by this style as many have mentioned before in this thread.
An interesting style I thought of just now was to just survive off the basics without, getting any classes until nothing is left and then choosing your class... or waiting until level 40... odd, but it may work.
Anyway... be fore I ramble on too much...
*off in the distance I hear a faint "Too late!!" *
Hush you!!! *ahem* anyways... I enjoy my friends on this server and enjoy watching them play and playing with them. Whatever is done for balence is ok by me, I went through lots of it on WoW, so I am used to it. I play hard, sometimes I screw up... which is a lot... but I am learning and I am enjoying every bit of it.
Thanks for the fun. I will look forward to more games.

On the score bit from what dommi was talking about.

It has been discussed in a thread previously. I can't remember what the outcome was - I'll have a browse later. I think the thread also discussed highlighting players differently in the scoreboard according to their class.
The difficulty is in getting each client to know how much xp has been earned by everybody. Then we would probably require bespoke scoreboards for each of the gametypes. Not a quick job.
