I will definitely notice, heh nice try, but no dice. I really like the risk and danger of weapons that have momentum.

It's hard to make some thing that's "active on just a few maps". It will be active everywhere - it will just have more of an impact (no pun intended) on falling maps.
Some of which we do play quite a bit.

The only class that wouldn't notice would be the medics. My other characters would, probably within a map of playing - especially if we start playing a round of shield gun tag.
On reflection I am very opposed to the idea of removing momentum for friendly fire on anything other than healing/medic weapons.

How about just for the friendly fire from the Redeemer & Painter?

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

I'm wierd.
I think it's actually kinda fun when you die from the occasional, unintentional friendly fire incident. Like getting set when you go nil in Spades (particularly if you're already way way ahead - it becomes less of a rout).
However, I personally think more people would be agreeable to this suggestion.

I don't think we should change it at all. I do what dip does sometimes. I've used it to to get higher up or away from lots of monsters. it's also actually saved me from falling off a couple times. think about it...if one of those went off in real life it'd shove us all over the place..even if it was friendly fire. like has been said before all you have to do is crouch, or go find a spot to set your trans...it's simple as that.

Rocket jumps aren't as effective in UT2k4 though
Shield and bio jumps on the other hand.. those are good. Would removing momentum on friendly fire disable these?

I'm personally for zero momentum on friendly fire explicitly for the reason that it can and has been exploited. I've had about 5 times in the last 3 months where some (unknown) players have purposefully shield-gunned me off of walkways over slime/electricity or dead-falls. I normally don't mind when I'm "moved" to death by a Deemer, but there's been a few times I recognized shield-gunners actually going out of their way to "bump" me off a platform or cliff as I was typing something in chat, or waiting for my health to rise. A couple of times there was nothing and no-one else around, with plenty of room to get by me. Is my skin that monster-like? lol
Another related thing I have a question about... several times in a row on various occasions I've had my Deemer "denied" by an unknown sniper as I was piloting it. Is friendly-fire damage to Deemers possible?

Piper, yes the deemer can be shot at by another player and be "denied." However, it should be a rare occurance when that happens. Normally, what happens is you do not see a monster (usually a Nali) taking aim and suceeding.

Monsters are quite deft at taking down redeemer missiles, especially Nali, Titans, and Warlords.

A more effective way to deal with that situation is to report the player to the admins. If zero-momentum is implemented the players who do that sort of thing will find other ways to annoy you.

Yeah... believe me I would have. The problem is by the time they've accomplished their goal, it's been too late to see their name, and the death message is just something like "Piper took a swim and never came back" or "Piper has left a small crater" or something, heheh. (-;
