LOL Boingo wants to try it!
Actually....I was thinking about it. Depends on how far the pole is from the hot tub. Want to join Pyro and me? We can have the DC Women 300 Club.

Heck Ya! Long as we have something to drink that warms you up back by the hot tub!

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO what a ride!"

I am trying to find out from Eathan right now, but if he is on The Ice, reaching him can be really problematic, as there are times they do not have their satellite links from the Pole to the rest of the world. But it is far enough that it is a several minute walk outside of the dome, and far enough that they have to put up ropes and flags. See the link to the deal about the 300 Club in the post. But here is another large graphic which may help. The old dome is the circle right beside the long yellow building below and to the right of the pole. Since each circle is 1000ft, you are looking at probably 1500ft from the dome to the pole, or some 3000+ ft round trip. Far enough to send shivvers up and down my spine!!!

OK... All this talk about snow, and how cold it is, etc. has me fit to be tied. Firstly, because my best friend lives in SW Missouri, they have been having freezing rain and such, and if I do not hear from her this evening, I will be on the ceiling out of worry. Give it a day or so more, and I would be on roof and would almost be in the van, if I knew I would not be stirring up lots of grief and knew I could get through. But with that said... you want to talk about snow... try this, which is a pic of a friend of mine, Ethan (I have known him for probably 20 years now)...
No, you are not seeing things... that is the South Pole!!!, and yes, he is standing there wearing not much more than his swimming trunks. This is a pic of him for one of his http://www.penguincentral.com/300Club.html runs, where they run from a nice warm sauna, out, around the pole and back inside. Of course, most of the time he is more reasonable, such as in this pic:
What to see more of my friend's homepage and his um-hm... adventures... you can find it at http://www.penguincentral.com/penguincentral.html
And last I knew, he was still down at Amundsen-Scott Station. But then again, he may be back up North... hard to say with him.
Now how is that for serious snow, ice and cold!!!
Rofl, spacey your friend is a nut. Man talk about doing some crazy stuff, I bet he's singing the I want to be a macho man song in his head when he's standing out there with just his swim trunks on.
But he is crazy not insane lol. The only one that can be insane is me. Hazaa! >:/

Honestly, achohol, hottub and freezing weather is a recipie for disaster.
You guys are safer jumping into freezing water directly out of that hot tub than you are drinkin while in it.
I will take the hot chocolate and the cell phone for when one of you get 2 dehydrated and try to see if you can breath water.
Weather update: we are up to an uncharactaristicly snowie winter so far.
we have over 5 feet of recorded snowfall. Average Dec. 1 = 4 inches.
It has been a few years from the time when I could say that it seemed like the bottom floors were disapearing around here.

hmmm, speaking of jumping into frozen water... I have a tradition every year of jumping into our frozen lake up in the adirondacks every New Year at midnight so I'm the first in the lake that year .... if you need an axe to get through the ice you know it's going to be cold lol. Can't wait for this year, maybe I'll jump in with my shades on

hmmm, well I'm going to have to dig for those pics... I think I have some of the first time we did it about 6 years ago... it's funny that when we mention going down into the water nobody else seems to want to venture into the feet of snow to get to the dock ... hopefully we'll make it up this year and I could get some new pictures, but it looks like I may miss a year ... oh well I'll make sure to post those pics when I get back to school
