Flak Monkey Update

As most of you know, I have been out of work since Jan 12, 2009. That's a long time to have a very uncertain future. The last 2 years have been of mostly cutting back many thing, selling many things we worked so hard to get, and worrying about how to buy next weeks groceries. Along with failing PC hardware that keeps from enjoying what I built it for....UT (among other things). With school behind me (just have 1 test to take and I'm all done) I have been concentrating on finding work (along with studying for my test, not knowing when I will have the $125 to buy the test) for many months now. I have applied to countless jobs. Be turned down for every one but the temporary ones that only last a few days (which all they do is keep me busy for a few days and mess up my unemployment). I Have another such job next week.

Anyway, I thought I was in with my last interview for a perm. position as desktop support. It was an entry level position, but it was a foot in the door. Well, I was turned down from that. I was over qualified. But they had a position that was a little more suited for me, so they placed my name in that hat (as far as I know, my name was the only one in the hat). I had a 2nd interview for just that position.....and...... I think I got it. I don't know for certain so I am restraining my emotions about it. But I think I should hear from a recruiter next week sometime (hopefully) with an offer or something. There is a lot of red tape that comes with this process for several reasons. So, if all goes well, I should be in my new position about mid December. This is the first hint of good news we have had in I don't know how long. I had such a bad week that it was a welcomed change. Plus I have been waiting for a good reason to buy some beer. I miss beer....amongst many many other things.

Ive got my fingers crossed for you! Unless of course you dont believe in that or have that silly psycho superstition that if you do cross your fingers, it will only jinx you? In that case, I dont have my fingers crossed and I am just sending you good luck.. *crosses fingers behind back*

I know what you mean about these tech jobs. I was looking for something more steady and felt around for a good 6-7 months only to be offerd temp positions at $12-$15 bucks an hour?!?!??!?!

Apparently, many of the first sties in the refresh project I'm on this week are incomplete due to issues. SO all sites that were due to start this week are on hold, so I wont know when I will start till tomorrow or Wednesday.

Well, I got the call from the recruiter. That was merely a formality and to have me fill out the app. on line for the position as I technically never did. So, a little progress. Now, more waiting.

I still, however, have to keep looking for work and applying to places to keep the unemployment coming. More news when it comes up.

Well, got another call from the recruiter today. Had to fill out the authorization form for the background check and drug screening. Supposedly, will have an offer on Monday.

It really does get worse before it gets better.
For the last month, I have not got a UI payment. The investigation is over and they should continue on tuesday...but I'm still waiting. The last month's of pay will not get to me very quickly as it's all manually handled.

The background and drug screening is done. I am now waiting on final approval from General Dynamics/Gulfstream which will happen this week. If it happens in the next few days, I could be working by monday. If not, then next monday.

The amount of stress I have been under the past year has been excruciating. Causing me not to be able to sleep, depression and overall moody and poor demeanor. And put on top of that all the PC issues we are having is not helping at all. With no stress relief, I'm at the end of my rope. I just hope it doesn't break by my start date.

have the wife tie you to bed and tickle you with a feather for 3 hrs! that'll get rid of the stress!
