Flak Monkey Update

Week 1 down.
Got my permanent badge along with a desk/cube to call my own on Thursday. But the paperwork is slow. My door access is connected to my employee number, which I dont have yet. So I can get into the gate, but my badge don't open any doors. I get a green light with a "beep" but nothing happens. I'm still dependent on someone to let me in the door. So I have to choose doors with high traffic. Got a computer at my desk, but without an employee number, no access to it either along with email and everything else I need access too. First week is like that for everyone.

I got a look at my office down in Brunswick, where I will be the only IT guy there 2+ days a week. What a mess. I need to 5S that thing so bad. Sad thing is, the guy who was in this position before me died over thanksgiving (cancer). This is why it came open just as I was applying. All his belongings (even his car) are still there. His wife never picked them up. But I have a job ahead of me with that room. The Brunswick office is more of a maintenance location..I don't think they build anything there. One of these days, during lunch, I will have to mosey down to where they build the G650s. This is going to be the best job yet.

sounds like a pain but maybe a sweet deal of a job hope it all works out til you can retire!

I'm sure there is a plane reserved for the exects, and it's a rare occasion that Joe employee gets to fly in it. Would make for a short commute tho. 10 minutes compared to 60. Spend more time changing altitude than anything. Probably wouldn't bother raising the landing gear.

I hope to do well and climb the ladder as I don't want the last year of school to go to waste. As most of my job is going to be break/fix stuff. I will do more down there as I'm the only guy so I got the wiring closet to deal with and possibly cabling (even though they have a group that does just that).

My UI finally got cleared up on Thursday, so that happened at the last minute. Almost half went to my mom as I had to barrow quite a bit to get us thru to my first paycheck. With what we had left over, we finally celebrated my new job by going out and having seafood at Fiddlers. I also just won today a new vid card for the wife and a near complete innards to an old Alienware system that had my mobo in it. But also came with the CPU, RAM, Audio card & PSU. I hope the memory is the same as what I have now, then I can have 2 GB. SO, soon I will be up and running at optimum performance (crossing fingers) and my wife will have her puter pack as well.

Well, 2 weeks down. Things are going slow as they are fixing my badge and stuff. Got a mixup in HR or something and misspelled my name, so had to turn in my badge on Monday evening and havn't got a replacement. Still don't have an employee number or nothing... Hopefully, it will be fixed next week so I can get some real training done so I can get my post at the Brunswick site all squared away.

On a positive note, I received the parts to fix my computer. Will see if they work over the weekend. Wife should be getting a replacement vid card here soon as I got them the same day. I sure all goes well. I really don't like buying used parts of ebay, but at the moment, it's my only source with descent prices.
