Difficulty of new monsters

Running an X1900GT, and yeah, experienced lag like gameplay during wave 16. This sounds like UT2k4 is having troubles running with ATI cards.

Oi yeah, those little guys are EVIL! Felt like a demon raid commercial or somethin... In any case, I feel like a noob all over again! I've never gotten to be a super-power player but yeah, these new monsters dropped me right back in my DC diaper.

As for lag, haven't had any issues. I'm on an nVidia card tho so yeah, fwiw.

Running a Nvidia 6800+ and no lag problems.

I didnt get a chance to play once the new monsters were loaded. I was playing saturday, someone asked "how long, how long?", then the server when offline. Im guessing I missed Dru's post on taking it down to load the new files. It wasnt back up before we went out for the evening.
I will see how the junk system I have at work handles the new baddies today at lunch.

I'm having the same trouble with lag. I have an ATI mobility x1400 and get the same weird FPS values. It goes back and forth between zero and 1000 or so. I'm also getting substantially more in-game network lag. This could just be my internet being a pain, but I'm not sure. My lag was occasionally bad, but not constantly at 400...

By wave 13 or 14, I was lagging, and this happens just because I'm at work with this junk system and so-so connection, to the point where each wave I started loosing more information. monsters, ammo fire (friendly and enemy). then eventually, I get killed cuz I cant see anything coming at me, and when the new round starts, I dont even have a weapon, nor can I pick anything up. By then, I'm running around an empty map with a lot of action going on around me that I cant see.

Ok, this happens time to time even before the new stuff was added. Real test will be on my system at home. I dont see why there would be a problem with only ATI based cards. I got a 9800 Pro 256 which hasnt given me a hickup in the game yet and all options are maxed....we will see.

I feel for you. Despite my low pings, the lag is awful. I've hooked up my computer to other faster connections and have no lag at all. Sometimes when it's really bad my FPS will go under 20 FPS, but this started way before the new monster chaos entered the equation.

The red Vampire Gnats only start with 40 health, and do less than 35 damage, so they are not too difficult....
My recommendation - if you see one, take it out.

Easier said than done. IMveryHO, speed is too high on these. Of course, I was playing on a level 25 medic, but even so...
Anyway, two other issues with the mosquitos of doom.
1)You are not always in control of whether the flies can "feed" or not. If one noob/bot can cause a swarm, that's bad.
2)Summoners like Onimusha, the aforementioned level 25 medic, etc. seem to be shortchanged, because any summon (even Oni's skaarj, from the looks of it) becomes a feeding ground.

Other than that, the new monsters are awesome. The mosquitos will be cool too, once the bugs (no pun intended) are worked out.

other than that 1 map i haven't had any issues and that still could have been my internet. I don't have my setting maxed though. I think most everything is on normal, but thats just so the lvl's load quicker. I just hate waiting for the loading screen to end.

I have also had issue's with my wireless card dropping packets like crazy. It was causing my ping to bounce between 200 - 900+. using Lan line now. A ping no greater than 80 is much better. Not sure why it started. It's been a couple weeks since I changed any settings on my router.

I loose packets no matter what I do. Cal Poly's network is very excellent... :/

My experience with the vampire gnats was pretty outrageous today on Orcus. It got to the point where you can't go anywhere in the map without being pestered by one. The radar was full of so many dots it was more like one giant blob. Even a deemer didn't seem to phase them.

I have even seen them feeding off other monsters!
