I've tried the AVRIL on the red flys when they're after me...its extremely hard to keep a lock on them, the only way I could get them with it was when they were right in my face, close enough the splash damage got me too.

As for the difficulty? I love it!! yeah it's much harder, but even with the lava skaarj and invismonsters we were still winning probably 97% of the maps....seems like it anyway. and as much fun as winning is, it's more fun when you really have to work for it like you do now.

Also, now you need a lot more teamwork than even before. (especially need medics) Like Wonko said in his post, we made it to wave 13 once, but it wasn't because of me, it was because of the medic standing behind me who healed me halfway through the wave...

The queens do handle the logic though... I think they increment and decrement the spawned monster count in the invasion object. It might be worth glancing at.
I think the Queens and the Giant Gasbags handle it same way. If the Parent dies, at the next tick the children suicide.
I thought about making the Vampire Gnats do the same, but didn't like the idea of them just disappearing. It didn't feel right - probably because the child is of exactly the same type as the original.

I found that once I had been playing with them for a while, I developed the tactic of taking them out as soon as I saw them. I then found the question of them being there at the end of the round didn''t crop up.

So, if they are still there when the wave finishes, you haven't taken them out as soon as you have seen them, and you have let them feed and multiply. Change tactics.

So it can heal monsters and make them invulnerable and have double damage?? It depends on how long it would stay up. And would the monsters be really that smart to go inside/stay in the sphere?

I was also thinking about a healing monster... but I guess the nali with the healing sphere can do that.

I dont know about you, but I don't use AVRIL onvampire gnats, they move to fast for AVRIL to lock on them. When they are after somebody else, you can shoot them down with AVRIL from a distance, but if they are after me, I find flak or shock combo most effective (perhaps even mines with a chance that mines hurt you too).

Bottom line seems to be: If you see anything red, take that out first.

That was my point about the AVRiL being useful. Shooting them from a distance with an AVRiL seems to be the best way to take them out. You don't want them close to you. If more than two or so gnats are in your face, you got some problems. Null weapons are the most useful weapons in the game now hands down, IMO.

Oooo those red gnats are feisty little buggers... but they add the element of shock when you see them since they're so lethal. I do like the difficulty, but I'm just wondering what the green warlords do? They shot some blue colored ice blasts out (I think), but I didn't notice an effect.

All I hear when I read that is Bot exclaiming, "Szlat must die!"

...anyways, that sounds disturbing. And I like it. And do it.

those new queens are vicious. you're getting swarmed by monsters and then you get nulled by their webs and then your like "oh noes"

I think the overall difficulty is perfect. Most waves the death count seems pretty low, but on wave 12, 14, or 16 people start people start dropping like flies. On one map I was the last one left on 12 and 16. 12 is going to be a real beast when those null warlords actually null.

3. Has anyone else experienced a decrease in FPS with the new monsters? I just bought a new ATI Radeon x800 xt and my game play grinds to a halt in later waves. Maybe it's just me.

i have a x1600 pro and noticed some lag/fps drop on 16(one of the shock style maps of a living room). Not sure if it was my fps or my internet connection. I get weird reading with the in game fps. It fluctuates between 0 and something like 4 billion fps. that might have something to do with having a crossfire motherboard, not that I'm running with 2 cards.
