Suggestion on First Blood to LW players

I agree with you Bot and Flak, I'm a LW lvl 113, just choose not to use my mega weapons for first blood. Other characters can trans for those 9 seconds before the wave starts and grab a gun, or shield them. The possibility of an enemy spawning near you are random, but the radar's there for a reason. I'm just saying if I see a fly buzzing around not too far away, I don't need to nuke it. I'm not saying change LW player's super weaps, or the ut code lol. It's always cool to know my name or %n show's up on everyone's screen, just saying we should do it in a deserving manor. On a side note, Mandapanda says she's gonna beat me at it, while the map loads, but she often doesn't get a chance. ... and says bad words lol.

I never even thought of using my deemer on the first wave, just to get first blood. What a waste. I save my deemer for higher waves if I think to use it at all. When I manage to get it, I always have my flak out.

Using regular weapons are often faster when it comes to getting first blood anyways. Maybe deemers should self destruct if shot within the first 10 seconds of a match

I can see not must "both" sides of this argument, but several more besides those two. They did spend 53+ levels working to get what ever level of LW3 (or shoot, let's even consider LW1 with the flak, RL and shock), and should have the right to use it. But then, what does the LW player need with the pittance it gets them. And with the LA/Medic/MM players, they do need the adren. As for using the TL to get a weapon, I have seen a number of maps where I had the map already, am familar with the map, etc, and during the beginning countdown, I might be able to get a weapon other than the pea-shooter. Then again, depending on that map, I have had a few where I could not get to a weapon spawn.

Should players with LW3 hold off a few secs to let someone else have a fighting chance at first blood once in awhile? It would be really nice, but I am not going to suggest in any way that we mandate it, or call it tacky, or what ever.

And BTW... I am with Manda... Look deeply into my eyes and repeat after me... You want to give me your deemer... You want to give me your vorpal... You want to give me your vorpal! >

Spacey and Manda (or anyone else) you can have my deemer 99% of the time! (To tell you the trueth, I usually forget that I have it! LOL) And I usually don't hesitate to toss a nice vorp someone else's way to share the fun!

But really, like Bot said, it's an ettiquet (spelling <shrugs>

thing in my opinion. I also see the point that we (I'm a LW with maxed weapons) spent our points to get those weps right away, so why not use them?
My only real problem is when that deemer goes off too close to the shooter and a spawn point with a new player comming in, and kersplat! Was the few points of adren and the possability of a bingo or some such competition oriented bragging right worth your and your helpless, though unintentional, victims lives for that wave? I just say, be very careful where, when and what you shoot that thing at.

I don't deemer to get first blood, but I definitly get out my LG in anticipation of getting it. Now that I have ultima, on many waves I'll shoot off the deemer, painter, then suicide for an ultima blast.

Granted that I probably get more than my fair share of "first blood" awards, but I never get them with a deemer. My first bloods come from actively seeking the first monster that comes into my sights and popping them with my trusty shotgun, er sorry flack cannon. >

However, I do see both sides of the issue, but those of us that have paid the price for our little toys should be able to use/waste as we see fit. In all fairness, I've been in maps where the redeemer was never used once, and on other maps, it seems that everyone is shooting them off like firecrackers.

So, I'll probably straddle the fence on this one.

I actually think it's rather entertaining when you hear someone fire off a deemer in hopes of getting first blood, and then stealing it out from under their nose with the LG.

But maybe that's just me

Is this really being discussed? This award is funny. I can get it by telefragging a pupae. You can get it by nuking a razor fly.

It's random. It's silly. It's fun! And I think you get all of 10xp for it. Who cares?

If anyone really cares, maybe we should take it away, since the person with the best hardware and maps downloaded will most-likely get the first kill no matter what class they are.

Em...I know, and I thank you for the many weapon dumps you have done to make sure I was all set. And the same thing goes to each and every one of you who has tossed me a vamp, vorp or even a junky weapon I was asking for. And it goes without saying about the supers like the deemer. A few times, I have done some massive damage when I was one of the last ones in thanks to that and my globe. (indeed, that was what the sillyness was about at the end of my message)

Yea, it is fun to steal that first blood from someone who fired a deemer by killing the bug with your peashooter, the LG as Phoenix says, or as dru says, tl'ing the stupid bug.

And Dru has the right of it... it is a stupid little award. Unlike Demon, I won't sit on the fence on this one. I had kinda figured in part my sillyness and such was pointing out the multiple sides, and how silly it is. Instead, consider my having knocked at least the bit of fence in front of me down, and then proceeded to sit down and take it easy for a bit cooking a few weenies over the fire built with said fence. Feel free to bring over a few marshmallows and join me.

It's 25 xp (still not a lot) but it's also 25 adren. And for the medic without drip, that's a weapon right there.

I say keep it. This is strictly an ettiquette issue and we all know how well those discussions go over.
