I was thinking if there was an 'Armor Weapon Maker' that you would get with medic and give players shield power. If there are any more ideas, post them here!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the new engineer class will be specializing in armor abilities.

They have Halo-esque shield regen. There was brief discussion of giving medic style shield generating abilities to their special link gun, which has a shorter, slightly more powerful, and extra "squiggly" alt fire. I don't know if anything came of it, though. Szlat?

I haven't done anything about it.
It could be done as part of the EngineerLinkGun, but it may be better to have it as a totally separate skill. Then admins can configure if they want it or not.
Would you want it to be just on the EngineerLinkGun, or would it be like the MedicMaker - have an artifact, choose a weapon and convert? (EDIT: tgroombr's initial post suggests an artifact to convert weapons)
It could have different levels - heal shield up to 50, 100 or 150.
That is relatively straight forward. Giving xp for improving someone's shield is a lot more complex. You would need to keep a log of how much damage has been done by monsters and how much is self inflicted, in order to avoid exploits.
And if you are giving xp for that, if someone has a luck weapon which keeps spawning 50 shields, should they get xp for restoring someone's shield?
My feeling is shields aren't as valuable as health, so you shouldn't get xp for restoring. As such, the demand for the skill from engineers may not be great.
At the end of the day, it's Druid's call.

Being as how shields aren't increased with Health, they are relatively pointless. But meh.

I have another idea. What if you used a summoning charm, and it would pop up a menu of all the preloaded monsters in the game. Then you could select the monster you want to summon. Would that be cool?

Yes and no.
The Medic has the ability to pick and choose what monster they can summon - your idea would steal their thunder, to an extent.
I think the summon charm is fine as it is - summons based on the existing adren of the summoner.

I came up with that a while back for Medics, actually. No idea why it never happened...

I seem to occasionally be able to read Dru's mind. Or maybe I just understand what he'd rather spend his time doing as a coder ...
I think the icon method in place now "works". Getting it to "work differently" would be a "time expense". Dru (and the other developers) would probably like to redirect their efforts to other areas.
Not so sure how menus really work myself anyway, and if it would be "easy" to do. If you think it is, I'm sure Dru wouldn't mind a patch.

Sure, once I recover my computer from its explodedness, I'll see about doin' that . My power supply asploded, and either my north bridge (or some such) or processor fried. I have a new kick butt 140000-hour-average-lifespan lifetime-warranty power supply, and once I figure out whether it's my processor or motherboard that's roasted, I'll replace that too. No idea when that'll be happening, though. And until then, I am devoid of my own computer T_T. Ah well, it could be worse. My HDDs could have exploded. *explosion* ... Later!

Blue smoke = overloaded integrated circuit, usually a chip. White, gray, or black smoke = overloaded wiring or failed mechanical components.

Integrated Circuit = Chip. But let us remain on-topic, shall we? Or, we could abandon it to die, seeming as how nothing else is being said...

Not related to the topic, but I have one little problem with RPG. I cant change my "Max Ammo Bonus" because there are no buttons near it. It works fine on the server though. I have RPG v2.2, DruidsRPG 203, WeaponsOfPower, and one of my own, ExpansionRPGFlood which might be released by me. And the Idea is that if the server had WeaponsOfPower too.
