I was wondering if some sort of class indicator on the F1 screen might be possible. For instance, a player's name would show up a different color for their class (red for WM, yellow for AM, green for medics, or whatever). I'm unfamiliar with UT coding so I have no idea how much work this would take. I thought it might be useful for finding players to max weaps, healing, or whatever since not everyones character name hints as to which class they chose.

This has been discussed before. As far as I recall, the problem was that class info was not replicated to other clients, so they have no idea what class you are in the first place. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong.

But I'd have thought player scores came from the server?
My logic following that is that just to attach something to that value, medics scores become ###MM, LA becomes ###LA... or something like that?

Ohhh...blegh.
Yeah, this is certainly possible, but trust me when I say because of difficulty it's going to be low on the priority list.

Hmm... good points.
well on second thought, there are more important things to spend bandwidth and cpu power on.

Some things are replicated to the clients. Score is one of them.
It's certainly possible to replicate this info to the clients, but I find myself asking... why? If you really want to know, you can go find out here: http://www.disastrousconsequences.com/dc/rpg.jsp

The fundamental problem is this: The first word we learn as children is NO. From that point forward society teaches women that saying no isn't polite, and society teaches men to respect those who wont take no for an answer.

But you can't view stats in game. I just thought it would be helpful to know who can heal, max weapons, etc at a glance (for instance, my LW is ECHO.SPR, but no one would be able to tell which class I am by just looking at my name). It's not an urgent issue, just a thought.

all you have to do if you want a weapon maxed is say something to the effect of "can someone max *insert weapon name here* for me?"
If you need a heal say something like "can I get a medic?"
Besides, if you play here long enough you start learning what class people and you'll be able to tell. Lots of the people that play here have names that tell you which class they are anyway..such as mine Hobo_Healer is my medic obviously, LA_Hobo is artifacts and then Hobo_Joe is my WM

Yes, but my point was that not everyone has obvious names. Not everyone plays here often enough to know exactly who is what. I do, and yes, it's easy to ask if I can't tell, but even so the suggestion would've been a convenience. Either way it's not a big deal.

It may not be obvious, but in pretty short order you know who is who and what they can do. If they don't play here often, then they probly havent spent the points to do what you want.
Of course I have spent a pretty good amount of time looking over how the top 150 people and the ones a few levels above my characters to see how they have spent their points. Not that I always do what the pack does but to see what works on the "average"
