I think the obvious choice is Flak Junkie. Thought about spelling it "Jonkey" to make it different and easy to switch between the two...

I chose Flak_Junkie. I just "registered" it on the server and will stat dieing fast when I reach 500 on my WM. It's gunna suck for a while as I feel like I'm playing in slow motion without all my abilities in place. Oh well, I said I would do it, so with both feet.....

well technically the flak fires Flachettes rounds not buck shot, and I think I would rather get hit with buck shot than the 3 sided razor darts..( and they did make them for shotguns during the Nam era) I was told how the had to broadcast over the PA system when they where going to shoot them from the artillery base that was about to be over run...they go out the next morn and find ppl pinned to the elephant grass standing up ( those used like 8 to 10 inch darts I was told) They would lvl the barrel and fire them off each round had like 300 to 500 darts in it I think maybe more been 30 yrs since I was told bout them

This has been tough. I still feel the need to go look for things and not try and hide...I find I don't get any XP if I sit in the shelter of a 'base'. ya I would live longer, but I wouldn't be lev 20 something in a few hours either.

Got real frustrating using just the keybinds I had for my WM, flipping through all the artifacts trying to find one to use as I get pummeled...so when UT crashed, I had to read up on the keybinds for the artifacts. So I made a few and will see how things go.

It's nice to play with the rod again, it's my primary weapon at this level. Slowly ramping both my adren and Damage amp to have some more oomph in my hits and for longer and I cant rely on regular weapons anymore... cant rely on finding ammo, running out of ammo sux..

But here is a question that came over me... If a WM gets full ammo when he gets LW4, then why doesn't AM get full Adren at LA3 or 4? I realize I can buy all 4 LA levels right off the get go (unlike WM), but many I cant use either without the required Adren. So it like they dont exist for me yet anyway.

That's a good question! I remember have'n to wait to try things and see what they did!

Couple of tips from one junkie to another.
1st of all, learn spawn rates of the double damage and what waves you can use rod on without destroying your adrenaline.

I'm prob gonna hurt myself for this but hey its teamwork.
For the double damage, it has a spawn time of about 85s when it was last picked up. If you are able to pick it up, when it falls off of you, take a quick peak at the scoreboard clock and whatever the seconds is, subtract 10 and go back to the DD at that time.

Example: DD ended at 10:46. Go back and check the DD at 11:36 and it will spawn shortly.

At low levels and low waves, DD + Rod can net you a little bit of extra xp. However dont do this on waves with Queens, Giant Gas Bags, Titans, or Warlords as these mobs suck a ton of adrenaline really quickly and a junkie with 0 adrenaline is a dead junkie.

One particular wave where the rod really has a good use is the near all Skarjii Wave (Wave 9 or 10 I believe). Skarjii dont have huge life pools which make them excellent for "Rodding", even if you dont get any kills with it, you can suck up a good bit of easy xp for relatively little adrenaline cost.

Also learn where the Health pickups and Shield Pickups are. With no forms of regeneration, these are your lifelines. Double goes if there are no Medics or Engineers on the map.

As for Magic Types to shoot for.

My preference as a mid 70's junkie is:
Energy - Each + is like 2 levels of Energy Leech. Keeps your Adrenaline up. Your able to use the artifacts more often to a greater effect.
Lucky - I've had really good times with Lucky weapons as an AM. It generally give you the stuff you need when you need it. Need health, it'll give health. Need ammo, it'll give ammo. The DD spawns are real nice to use in conjuction with Rod when they happen.
Null Entropy - Its sometimes Underestimed but having the ability to stop monsters in place for a easy kill to give returns via Surge is highly valued.
Freezing - Nearly the same as Null Entropy making it easier to kill monsters and get spree bonues and surge returns.
Vampiric - Can be a life saver with no medics on the map and no health packs on the map.
Piercing - If nothing else, these are usually easily gotten but at low levels, it really doesnt help all that much. As your level rises, this becomes worth more.
*Poison - Only weapon I really consider getting Poison on is the Minigun. Best waves to use it on, Titan Waves. The more open the map (like hanger) the much much better this weapon becomes. Combine the poison with double and you will see a huge return on XP. Basically you turn on Double Magic, spray the room full of titans, then turn it off and stop firing. You WILL see gains of XP by double digits per second. Sure you wont get any kills but the XP return is huge.
*Vorpal - Really good on the weapons that can get it. Maps like Face Classic, roll a vorpal sniper and watch the fun begin. On titan waves, double the magic value to +20 or +22 and you can really have a lot of fun with it.

Those are the Magic's that I generally shoot for in about that order.

For abilities, I went with getting Ammo Bonus to 50 and getting Resupply 1 along with getting Loaded Artifacts to either 2 or 3 and Energy Leech to 2. As you past the first "Newb" barrer at 20, you need to start getting Adrenaline up and getting Denial to 2 (Denial is very very important as nothing is worse then losing your weapons on death after a good roll). Try to get Adrenaline up to at least 150 to Max your weapon and to get Adrenal Drip 1 and 2 once you lose the "Newb" adrenal drip at 41. Also start working on Damage Bonus to 50 to get Surge as well.

By level 41 and the loss of the bonuses, you should have:
Loaded Artifacts - 3
Adrenal Drip - 2
Denial - 2 or 3
Energy Leech - 2
Adrenaline Max - 150
Ammo Max - 50
Resupply - 1
Damage Bonus + Surge - Currrently working on.

After 41, you need to start putting points into Health to increase your survivability. I put 50 points in (100 extra health) while finishing up Damage Bonus to 50 and getting Surge 1 and 2 and Denial 3. From there its putting more points into Adrenaline and getting Drip 3 and getting more Energy Leech.
I really dont recommend putting any points into Weapon Speed for a while. Points can be spent elsewhere that are a bit more beneficial.

But I cant stress this enough, get Denial 2 at least as soon as you can after level 25.

Just a few tips from me.

Thanks...the AM is a totally different ball of wax compared to the WM. I chose the WM as it fit my playing style. This is going to be hard to adjust to. I will, no doubt.
