Why are you two going on about all of this.
@bah, it is really looking like you are accusing gopostal of being the sole cause of something that could have been started by anyone.
You admitted that you once used a public redirect server...it doesn't take much to download every file off of a public redirect server...a person doesn't even have to extract their cache...they can just download it directly from the http site of the redirect server.
http://uz2.gameservers.net/ut2004/
Instead of wasting your energy trying to get even, why don't you improve on your code, and update your server with the improved code...let the other servers use the buggy code...if they don't know the source then that is their loss.
config files don't get uploaded to clients, so if you want to keep your server unique, take advantage of using config files for certain parameters...don't hard code everything.
Put a comment in the beginning of the code stating that you are the author, give permission to use and modify the code as long as your name stays listed as the original author...this way anyone that knows how to edit the code should see the comment and have no excuse to not give you credit.
@gopostal: how did you come accross this thread? you don't seem to be a frequent poster. Are you searching the web for bah? Is this a new battle ground for you two?

nah running game servers is all I really care about anymore.
(and have always wanted to do so but didn't have the stoopid connection to do so..)
guess you already read my edit on the other forum.. not enough I guess..
and yes they take it, make it better, rename it, and slap their own name on it with no credit to you? yeah.

@greg11... this is all omipotent's invasion server's fault!.. darn them for not listening to the players and adding new monsters etc... that's where this all started for me.

If I had a dollar....
I read this forum from time to time to keep up with new stuff on the rpg scene. The more esoteric abilities and stuff aren't really my bag but I like to see what people can dream up.
I ran across this post and frankly I sat on it for a couple of days before answering. I apologize for making it a battle and I will accept any admin consequence that comes my way for it. Many people read these forums though, and there is an obligation for both sides to be presented so the average reader can make up their own mind.

using private redirect really won't stop anything.. encrypting files.. might stop 90% of the cache thieves But, I doubt it..
seriously nothing I have made is worth a p00p but it's still annoying.. druid should encrypt all of his files. I have seen teh light.

True, but not releasing a ut2004rpg.ini file for the new version has made it more difficult for many admins to install the beta on their server. Yes, there are servers out there with the latest version, but it took some coding knowledge to get the classes setup in the config file.
I don't think there is a way to encrypt any mods or files for ut2004.

there is.. just look at the monster madness server..(also very easy to de-compile though..)
I don't think setting up a config for say cough217cough would be hard.. but re-compiling it for a single class seems nigh impossible..

Why would you want to encrypt? I just fail to see the reasoning behind it. Making it hard to copy only adds to the mystique and desireability of the mod. Once someone figures it out, there's almost as much pride in that for them when instead they could have put their efforts into possibly improving your base work.
If you code then you obviously are intelligent enough to understand logical reasoning. Why spend effort trying to hide things in what is clearly a public game when you know it's going to be a fruitless endeavor in the end?

I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking:
"Why, oh why, could you have not let the thread die?"
Then I remembered. This is the Internet, which seems was built upon people "poking the bear". Or maybe "mutual rise getting".
