Excellent! Looks like you're subscribing to 9Mbps down /1.5Mbps up... do you have verizon?? I'm not aware of many companies that offer a max of 1.5+ Mbps Upstream... that's pretty handy to have if you wanted to host your own server... a client (player) can connect to a server, generally, at a max of 10000 Bytes per second (found in your ini file), which translates to 10KBps, or .1Mbps... with overhead, you could in theory run a server with about 10 people on it with little slow down, maybe 12... that's in theory, though... you'd need the bandwidth to be dedicated and not part of any type of "booster" service (like cox's download booster or whatever they call it) at any rate, your connection looks phenominal, especially if it's on windows XP over wireless

Hello Rad

I am getting what I am paying for. No higher speed in my area and I live down town. I pay $45 for this service and I get a deal. Thinking of going cable.

many thanks for your help.

Yvonne

very good... I use cable to host my server, and i love it... very nice, my roommate and i can both download torrents and i host my server, he plays WoW and i'm on a different server pwning it up... no slow down

of course, we're the only gaming geeks in the area and have a relatively close proximity to the nearest CO (Central Office) where all the switches are located... we've peaked at 3.2MBps down (that's 3.2 Megabytes, or 1 three-minute song of 128kbps quality every second)

Needless to say, we love our apartment haha...

um... were you having an issue also?? you thanked me for help i wasn't aware you needed any

Comcast standard cable service. For another $10.00 per month, I can go 2Mbps faster.

Download Speed: 411 kbps (51.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 290 kbps (36.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Slowest yet of anyone here (using the GA sever...closest I can get \/)
Im guessing that Im sorta slow arnt I? (prolly why my lowest ping ever was 128 )

I used to get disciples prob alot but hasnt happened in long for me....May explain those occasional " Rock? there was no rock!" situations...

I doubt its the speed thats doing it to disciple though

Download: 997 kb/s
Upload: 250 kb/s

My connection is supposed to be 1Mb/256kb, looks pretty close.

I have no troubles playing (and my ping to DC is around 180).

stick with what you've got if your satisfied... no need to throw another $120 a year out the window if you're not gonna notice a difference

something seems to be wrong with your connection, or your TCP/IP stack... it looks decent for upload, depending on the bandwidth allocated by your package, but your download should be more than twice the speed (generally)...

i may need to start having people do packetloss tests here soon... do you still have the weapons disappearing issue?

Nope...Weapons disappearing is rare now....
Though if many people get on I may get disappearing projectiles....sorta hard to dodge....but in more recent times it may be less common...(or maybe just less monsters in any given area...)
But main reason for post was to dismiss any thoughts it was disciples download speed doing it...

Is it relevant to say that the connection is split with another computer? (wasnt in use at the time...)
Or that ISP here are well....not decent to say the least...

i'm not sure how UT's engine delivers information from one client to the next... I'd imagine, since it's a dedicated server, that clients talk to the server, but not each other... all information is processed by the server and sent back to each client...

however, if many people are connecting, and you experience disappearing projectiles, it may just be your end... i would ask in-game if other people are experiencing the same issue... if not, it's a bandwidth problem on your end...

also "Is it relevant to say that the connection is split with another computer? (wasnt in use at the time...)
Or that ISP here are well....not decent to say the least..." if you mean you have another computer in your home that's also connecting to the same server, you each connect as individual computers, but share the same uploading/downloading bandwidth, so your 51.4KB/sec and 36.3KB/sec is halved (theoretically, but not always in practice due to "packet prioritization" by the router) so you'd have 25.7KB download and 18.3KB upload per computer...

let's not forget that each computer is also actively running internet services, such as the clock synchronization, windows updates, and any other program you have that auto-checks/downloads updates (real player, java, anti-virus, open e-mail clients like outlook express, winamp, etc)

so you see now why having more bandwidth is essential... if you're paying for more than what you're receiving (significantly more) I would suggest calling your ISP and having your line analyzed for "Loop Length" and SES (severe error seconds)...

not all ISPs call it the same thing, but have them run "line tests" and that should help them figure it out... explain that you have a slow connection (if you're paying for more than 768K download /256K upload [standard minimalist DSL line] )

good luck

Disappearing projectiles is a my end thing I figure cus other people are dodging and what not....And the first time it happened to me noone else reported it (this is both enemy and friendly fire) ...and it was fixed via reconnecting just like yea ol' "where are my weapons?" bug....

Its not incredibly common like disciple however..its more like some days it happenes alot then it doesnt happen for long time

The other computer isnt used for UT but if Internet is used like deivant art on the other computer my Ping goes up to 300 (really hard to shoot stuff ...then if its youtube 600+ ping = unplayable (really hard to run through doors or walk along)

Aniit-viruses are set to look for updates at about 4 or 3 am
Cant say what else...
More of a if its fully to blame my connection or blame my computer situation..cus I could possibly get comp situations fixed..but my net is payed via parents me only being 17 an all...

So I'll make do till I get a job.....

Glad I could be of some us after 3 years of inactivity on the forum...

if your modem constantly makes the signal degrade, you could be experincing bad line quality, or your modem may need to be replaced. Keep this in mind, should the issue crop up again.

As for now, it looks like your line is a 3Mb down/512Kb up... congrats, and good luck
